Can a NY resident purchae a preban ar15 in SC and bring it back into NY state?  Or a post ban with lug shaved off and an non flashed/threaded barrel?  I have a friend visiting this weekend and we have a big gun show local.  Post ban AR's don't bring much money here and we don't get too wound up about pre-ban anymore either.
Thanks guys.

Todd.

yes and yes, if permitted by south carolina law

new yorkers are permitted to buy rifles in other states under NY and Federal law, including prebans that can then be brought to NY

Yep, and your response is another reason I don't like NY.  Here in Charleston we call New Yorkers "half Backs"   They originally moved to florida to get away from the cold, high taxes and the Nazi state in general.  Once they spend a few years in the south American country of Florida, they decide to head home.   Their Town Cars and Grand Marqi's always seem to need gas by the time they reach SC on I95.  For some strange reason they decide to stay here.  Then we have to deal with these strange people with pissy attitudes trying to find their place in the world.  Since they move "half way back to NY" we coined the phrase "half backs".   It's a real problem here until they realize we have guns, they can have guns and we don't get any damn snow (cept last weekend, we got 4 inches, and I'll say this, only the half backs knew how to drive in it).   Now I have a lot of friends from NY, we've managed to convert them to our southern ways and they have become quite pleasant people, though most still talk funny.  I just recently learned that "How ya doin?" doesn't actually mean a Half Back really cares how I'm doin'.  They just say it to sound cool.  I tried to tell the gentleman I was doing great and he seemed shocked that I answered.  One day I'm gonna leave my rights behind and go visit that Empire state, just to see how those folks let it get all fudged up.  I love my Half Backs, at lest they were smart enough to leave.  My girlfriend is from Boston, and man she really talks funny.  Even my Half Back friends make fun of her.   Gotta love the south,

So mister big red letters, do you feel better by giving me a ration of crap, oops, I mean "bustin my balls"?   Come on down and I'll let you shoot on my 1,200 meter range and shoot my M2 from the roof of my Hmmwv, it's a blast.  Then when we done shootin' we will suck down a few miller lights (after we clean the ma deuce) and listen to my Yankee girlfriend tell her stories about Iraq.  Of course since she is Italian/Bostonian we have to eat some of her famous "gravy", I still call it spagetti sauce, which pisses her off.

By the way, I'm from Ohio.......

I actually live in the OTHER NY, you know the one NOT covered in 3 feet of concrete.

We're more like WEST VERMONT than NYC.

We have as many deer, not as many rattlers or copperheads.

I happen to be a half assed mountain boy from the foothills of the Adirondacks, approx 3 million acres of wonderful woods (you can fit 5 of the biggest national parks in our one)

I'd love to shoot your Ma Duce, as the sewage from Albany, NYC, and other major metropolitan areas handcuff us with laws on such evil things...for "our own good".

I can however bring my 5 shot repeater down and shoot it off the roof of my little brother to your H1!

I've got kin in KY,FL, Alabama, and parts south.

I grew up part of the time in Dade City Florida, about 20 miles from THE CITY OF THE DRIVING DEAD AKA Zepherhills...LOL

I've worked with Manatees, Gators, and venomous snakes at a wildlife park in FL, and I'll had catch a gator for you if you want up to four and a half feet.

Some of the southern boys I grew up with are still fighting the war of northern aggression, and have a big chip on their shoulder when a new yawker can out ride, out shoot and out drink them (in my younger years ) LOL

Show up here I'll invite you to shoot/camp/drink/and BS with us at this year's GUNS ALONG THE MOHAWK,

take you on a tour of Remington Arms, or wet a line for some of the tastiest trout walleye, or bass you've ever tasted!

Just wanted to be neighborly and make sure you saw the link, cause I know some of you southern boys "cain't reed so guud..." <sarcasm

One Fl CRACKER on this board even kinda has adopted me as a twin brother from different mothers....

Hell, I'll even take you to dig Herkimer Diamonds or see the baseball hall of fame in my old 72 CJ5 if ya want.

WOW, that is the best response to my sarcasm I have ever had.  I'm still laughing.

Truth be told, I was too damn lazy (southern thing) to read all the posts.  I also knew that the great community of ARFCOM would chime in and fill my brain housing group with honest answers.  I was also in a time crunch.  My Bostonian woman was draggng me to bed, and at my age, gotta get it while ya still can.

Gotta run, have to head down to the Beaufort film festival to rub shoulders with other producers and hopefully get our movie funded.   Story about a platoon of soldiers and their year in Afghanistan, spent 2 months with these guys and their story needs to be told.  Hunting for 14mil to produce it.    Be sure to take the family to see Dear John (it is a chick flick though, sorry bout that).  I did ALL the military stuff on it.

My H1 happens to be one of 4 up-armored real Hmmwv's and that aint being boastfull, these things are junk.  Fun as hell, but a nightmare to keep going.  My neighbor just bought an H3T last fall and is sick of payments already.  I'm chewing on the Idea of buying it off of him.  I like it, but it needs a duller paint job.

Carefull about invitations, I'm in major need of a vacation, been 2 years of non stop work (which I am very thankfull for).  Currently working the set of "army wives" and we are filming our 4th season.  Lots of Drama and very little action, but I love the cast and crew, it's like home to me.

Gotta run,

Todd.
