I'm looking for a few suggestions on how to spend my tax refund . I already have an AR but I'm throwing around the ideas of maybe a GSG5, maybe a M-1 Carbine, a steal of a M1A if I can find it,. I've got around a 650 cap...figured I'll come to my good friends in the HTF. Any other ideas for around that price range let em rip.

I thought about an AK, I found a nice kit in the EE I'm waiting to hear back from. Ammo wise...well my refund money already has an allotted ammo budget . Figured before I dove into anything I'd get a nice opinion from you guys.

Edit: FAL/CETME is another option I was kicking around as well.

If you are looking at building an AK kit I'm throwing together an AK build this spring around the Rochester area.

M1 carbine from the CMP is a great idea except there's no .30 carbine ammo to be found right now.

Hows about a dedicated .22 upper for the AR?  There are several good ones to choose from, and they let you shoot your AR on the cheap-cheap...

I've got a GSG, and they're a blast to shoot.  If you have any kids, they'll want to shoot it all the time.  But be careful though, cuz once you get on that style platform it can become an expensive habit (cetme>MP5 clone>G3 clone>you get the idea...)

carbine is cool but you can get a really nice garand; service grade is $595 from CMP.  It will have low muzzle wear and is genuine USGI made.

The garand is more satisfying to shoot than the carbine.

Planning on spending mine on a glock 19, but I guess that's a slightly different ball game.  M1 carbine would be great tho

+1
Even though you should own both, the Garand should be first. However, they are running out of Carbines.
