I went to the Clarence gunshow this past weekend...held in a smaller building next to Antique World.
The problem I have is how come gunshows have rules and regs about the sale of firearms, while at the same time on the same property a "Flea Market" is not subject to these rules.
There were MANY firarms on the flea market tables being sold ...with NO background check, while I was filling out paperwork next door at the gunshow.
As Peter Griffen would say..."that really grinds my gears!"
so how about we re-name the gunshows, and call them flea markets...then NOBODY has top go through the Paper work! ( just being sarcastic) but see my point!

Rant OFF!

As many guns as were at that flea market it may have qualified for a gunshow but the gunshow would never qualify as a flea market ( as much as we sometimes think it might with all the lacy purses, jerky and garbage picker tables that are in them).

I actually liked the Clarence show...Pfinac had pre-ban 20 round AR mags for under $20... I bought a SA93 for $600 and a scoped pre-ban 10/22 for under $200.
I just hate how the laws are soooooo Narrow.

What you speak of IS the "gunshow loophole"
A "dealer" as described by Federal Law is among many things in business to make money via the lawful sale of BATFE regulated items.
The Flea-Market peddler IS NOT licensed, and therefore exempt from the requirements and privilege of a FFL.
Because the peddler is only making "casual" sales and not licensed, he is exempt from Federal Law, however a sanctioned Gunshow in NY requires those casual sales to be conducted through a FFL (background check)
I don't think it's a damn bit fair all the bullshit a FFL has to go through, however I don't want BATFE sticking its nose up my ass because I want to thin the herd.
There is a gray area here, and the anti's know it. Undercover media, agents, private investigators, etc. are always looking to expose and exploit this.
Currently there isn't much if anything in the works.
There are people that for decades have traveled the show circuits buying-selling-trading firearms, none of which are on any books.
Is it legal? again "gray area"
Can law enforcement prove it?
Is justice being served?
If you don't think a District Attorney in Virginia is going to get his ass slammed for prosecuting an elderly couple selling off a life-long collection at a venue, man you've got another think coming *
My apologies to Judas Priest.
