That story amazes me. He was not even involved in the cigarettes and his "cache" is perfectly legal. A thousand rounds is 2 bricks of .22 or a case of ammo. Everyone here has more than 1k of total rounds at home. His guns all look like long arms (shotguns and rifles) His "IED's" are simply smoke bombs used for gophers/moles and shit like that. Out of all that, they charge him with 1 weapon violation. I wonder what it was.
The press was all over that story like it was a life saving bust when in fact, it was an embarrassment. |

Some updates: State Supreme Court Justice Lester Adler cut Burstell's bail in half after a bail hearing in White Plains. Burstell had been held on $1 million since he was charged last week with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison. YONKERS: Gary Burstell, a Cortlandt resident accused last week of having explosives, is due in City Court on Oct. 29. An adjournment was granted Thursday. Burstell was released from Westchester County jail Thursday after the halving of his bail to $500,000. He is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. His lawyer has said the explosives were smoke bombs to clear animals and glorified fireworks. |
