It will be interesting to see who the 9 members will be.

But to quell gun enthusiasts and some lawmakers who say the bill (S1774) punishes law-abiding gun owners, Gov. Jon Corzine issued an executive order creating a task force examining the law's impact on collectors and sportsmen. The nine-member body would made recommendations after 90 days on how to improve the law, if necessary.
"I am confident this will be a real task force offering real recommendations,'' said Sen. Fred Madden,District #4 (D-Gloucester), who provided the key vote that passed the bill 21-15 around 12:30 a.m.

I have an idea, let's pass a bill and then make a "Task Force" to see what the real repercussions of our actions are!  It looks like the Democrats are a shoot first, ask questions last type group.  One has to wonder why they aren't as easy on our law enforcement officials that have to make split second judgment calls on using a weapon.  These politicians had plenty of time to read the bill and understand its ramifications.

With many of these members up for re-election this year, it's surprising that it passed.  With Corzine moving so quickly for a "Task Force" you have to wonder if this bill will ever truly come to effect.  Why try so hard to pass a bill only to pull back once you get all the signatures?

The Task Force shall be composed of nine members. Membership shall include the Attorney General or designee, the Superintendent of State Police or designee, and a representative of the County Prosecutors’ Association. Additionally, the Task Force shall include one member representing an association of pistol and rifle clubs operating in New Jersey and one member representing an organization that promotes gun violence prevention, which members are to be appointed by the Governor. Additionally, the Task Force shall include two member of the Senate, one of whom with experience with firearms and firearms restrictions, to be selected by the President of the Senate; and two members of the General Assembly, one of whom with experience with firearms and firearms restrictions, to be selected by the Speaker of the General Assembly. Vacancies on the Task Force shall be filled in the same manner as the original selections. The non-legislative members shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor and without compensation. The Governor shall appoint the Chair of the Task Force. The members shall select a Vice-Chair through a majority vote.

thats a quote from executive order 145... basically it will be packed with ANTI's, and the one guy from a club they will select will most likely be some ultrafud who has never bought nor needed a handgun in his life, save for that back powder revolver his grand-daddy gave him 60 years ago

My father was in law enforcement while Christie was going through Monmouth County for the corrupt politicians. From what he told me, they were all horrendously scared and no one knew what was going on, people were getting charged left and right.

Our only hope is that he is the same way as governor

So we've got:
4 politicians
1 Anti
1 Good guy
1 NJSP Sup.
2 Attorneys
That seems like a fair cross section of those knowledgeable about guns and gun laws effectiveness. Considering the people in charge of choosing these guys, they may as well have just had 9 politicians read another BS study and make conclusions from that.

the entire idea that they bought into the anti-sentiments to pass the bill and now will investigate the 'other side' after the fact is complete and total bullshit.

Unfortunately he's lukewarm at best when it comes to guns and an ANTI when it comes to EBR's if i recall correctly
