I know I've read it before but cant remember and can't find it. As a purchase permit carrying NJ resident, can you purchase a shot gun or rifle for someone else?
Here's my scenario specifically - I'd like to buy my brother a shotgun as a gift. He has a NJ purchase permit, but he's since moved and his address doesn't match his ID. A lot of shops are doing the right thing, and comparing now so he can't buy one himself and wont bother to renew the permit with a new address because he may move soon. Can I buy the shot gun, and then somehow transfer ownership being that he does have an ID? Lets say he had no card what so ever.. can you give long guns as gifts? |

<snip> Lets say he had no card what so ever.. can you give long guns as gifts? Short answer to only THIS part of your question(s): Only if you (the donor) are dead. If he's NOT a prohibited person, he can keep them. Otherwise, he can't. Ok, the simple answer works for me. I'm just wondering what our options are being that he has an ID with an out of date address. Lets say we bth had valid IDs. Whats the process for a face to face sale? Any forms or anything? |
