Anyone like this range...been going to calverton forever, but think I need a change.
What are the rules (e.g. rapid fire, etc.)? What do I need to bring there? Thanks |

Brookhaven is good but I prefer Calverton. At least at Cal. you can back your vehicle right up to the bench. At Brook. you have to park in the lot and carry all your gear to the bench. Rules are stricter at Brook. No rapid fire, only 5 rounds in mag at a time (although they don't seem to be to strict on this one). Sometimes you can wait a long time for a cease fire, and if your target is not up you cannot fire. You also have to clean up your brass. The one advantage to Brook. is it is covered. On a rainy or HOT summer day you atleast have the shade. They also provide staple guns so you wont need those. If it's real busy they limit your time to shoot. During hunting season you may only be given 15 minutes.
Looking at the big picture any range nowadays is good. Lets just be thankful we atleast have them. |

I've been to Brookhaven for ever and never was limited to 15 minutes, that would really suck.I think the sign says 3hr,and they time stamp your ticket |

I love the Brookhaven range. All the Range Officers were very nice and helped out.
The only rule which gets annoying is you are not allow to touch your gun during a cease fire (a rule which i understand). So when you are ready to leave you have to wait for them to call ready on the line. Sometimes if someone else on the line is slacking off and taking too much time to set their targets up you can wait for a couple of minutes for ready on the line to be called. The other rules i remember is 5rd max per clip and sitting at the bench only. But other than that the range is safe and clean. |

Are people so lazy that they cannot pull out mag, fire out remaining shot, pull back bolt, check chamber, and rack weapon? |

There's a few words I'd use to decribe them... lazy probably isn't on the list.
The only excuse would be a tube fed .22 , in which case, yeah maybe you shouldn't fill it up every time. But it boggles the mind when someone tries to dump 10-15-20 rounds of .223 or .308 "because you said "fire out what you have in your rifles"."

One reason for this is so no one leaves with others shooters stuff when they are down range checking targets.Waiting for for the cease fire to end before letting shooters to split is ok by me. |
