Is it legal for me to purchase a Sig 556 rifle , if it's neutered, and use it here in Suffolk County, with PREBAN Ar15 hicap mags?

I'm not sure on Suffolk county, but it is NYS AWB compliant if it has a muzzle brake, fixed stock and no bayo lug (which I don't think they do anyway). A couple local guys have one. Neat gun.

yes. it is legal. the rifle and the magazine are two separate issues in the NYS AWB. if you make the rifle legal, and the magazine is legal, how could combining them be illegal?

Thanks all, and thanks for the link snakes. Certainlly looks lacking w/o a flash hider. I guess a muzzle brake would be OK though, correct?

Yes, a brake is fine. If the brake threads on, then it needs to be permanently installed (1100 degree silver solder, blind pinned, or welded)
