My mind that is. I got a good deal on ammo cases that I couldn't pass up, so I bought a whole pallet and started restoring them. The one on the left is how they basically all look before I restore them. as opposed to the one on the right which is restored. I might be in over my head here, but it is keeping me busy during the cold atleast.
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/1551/004vn5.jpg If memory serves me correct, there was 120 .50 cal boxes on the pallet. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/3671/005qo9.jpg Now I just gotta figure out what to do with them

hey now, I never said the things were full of ammo Im actually sanding them down to get all the surface rust off them, but not enough to wipe the writing off em. Then I am clear coating them to bring the color back and prevent them from rusting. The insides are so damn nice on all of them. I'm thinking of selling them when I'm done with em' but I'm not sure yet. I can probably figure ways to use 20 or 30 of them, but definately not 120 of them... |
| no, unfortunately no sand blaster. If I wanted to I could hit em' with the DA gun or the die grinder, but they really dont need that. I tried painting over the whole thing and re-stenciling them, but the stencil I have is not an exact match. It looks good, but nothing like the original. The ones I cant save that will need a total repaint will either get restenciled or a custom paint job, and so far I have only had one complete writeoff out of the whole pallet. |

I live on LI not near the Nassau/Suffolk border. I was thinking of selling the restored ones for $8.00 a can, and that includes sanding and reclearing the can, oiling the hinges and making sure the insides are clean and all that good stuff. The insides of these cans are gorgeous. On some of them, you can see the marks were the .50 cal bullet heads touch the inside walls, so it leaves a perfect little scratch.
The cans that I deem to be writeoffs, as in they have holes in them, or are just too much of a headache, I'll probably get rid of for like $2.00 a can. |

Out of the whole pallet, there were 1 .30 cal can, 4 5.56 cans, and 115 .50 cal cans. heres a few I did today. my camera doesnt like cooperating with me though. The one on the bottom was a total repaint including ghetto stencil job with random non-existant contract number..

The insides are all nice. Anyone that I come across that looks like the seal has been compromised, or the inside is just not right, I've been putting aside as a potential writeoff.

Yeah, I'll definately be selling most of them when I finish restoring some more, and I thought about posting in the EE, but it would have to be a FTF only thing, as I wouldn't begin to figure the uneconomical way of shipping these things. Hopefully I can bang out another 10 or so tonight, so I can start moving them a bit |

You get them from Garden City Park? By the corner of Jericho Tnpk and Herricks behind Dunkin Donuts? Nope. Why how much are they charging? I got about 20 restored right now, and about another 5 with custom paint jobs on em'. Ill be doing another 10 or so hopefully tomorrow night, and working my ass off this weekend to bang a whole bunch out. I'm sending PM/Im/whatever there called to the people who asked in the order they asked as they become available. http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3010/arboxkh7.jpg |

Big thumbs up to Blue70Chevelle Met him this afternoon at his shop and took a few cans off his hands. He's doing a great job refinishing them...very little rust, new paint, and very clean inside. All the gaskets are in great shape too. If you're in the Nassau/Suffolk area and need any, I highly recommend... |

Just returned from blue70chevell's "office" with a dozen cans, and will be going back for a few more next weekend.
This man is putting in a lot of work to deliver a nice finished product at a good price, anything not worthy is being set aside . Nice clean shop and a good guy to deal with. |
