We're looking to take a trip to Central Park this weekend or maybe Monday. We'll be driving down so I'm looking for parking somewhere in the area. Anyone know of a decent place? Also any must see attractions while we're in the area? Thanks in advance!

This Sunday, November 2nd, is the NYC Marathon.  Not likely to be much parking nearby.  A number of road closures will make a mess of the city, so I'd recommend not driving at all.

Have you considered taking a train into the city from one of the suburbs?

Weekend parking is free at Metro North train stations. Take the train.

but this Sunday will still be a bit 'busy' compared to other weekend days.

The park will be closed to vehicles, and a madhouse for the marathon on sunday, with preps already well underway.  It is one of the few days I avoid the area intentionally.

Take the MetroNorth.

edit to add: if you are coming in Monday, it will be typical rush hour stuff.  There is a garage on 58th street, just west of sixth, north side of 58th that has an early bird special, in before 10am, $20 all day.

There are three garages on 58th between 7th and 6th, it is the one closest to sixth, in the bottom of trump parc, next to the dry cleaners. 58th runs west east, so you pass the first two.

It is the least expensive garage within several blocks in any direction.

edit again:  "top of the rock" is great.  If you are with kids, the central park zoo, and carousel are great, several museums with walking distance from columbus circle (S.W. corner of the park)  Times square is always an interesting scene.

There's lots of street parking around the west 70s and 80s.  Just go with the alternate side turnover (be a half hour early) and you'll get a spot.

Thanks to all for the info. I'll be down on Monday.
