| what is the price on most pre-bans on long island? |
|
If you're asking about in store prices you'll find them usually up around where someone who walks in and knows what the prices are supposed to be will say WTF? Colt prebans are usually(in the EE) around 1000 up to 2k or more for ones that the owners feel are NIB collectible. Occasionally you'll see one around 900. You will never see one that low in an LI gun shop. You'll never get a good deal at the gun shop on a preban. Colt lowers are generally around 600-700 with others being a bit lower. The prices keep going up, and up. I can't find a preban stripped lower anymore for less than 600 that's forged (cast runs around 450). I'd jump on a 500 forged lower if I saw one. One other thing to keep in mind. Many FFLs in southern NY don't want to mess with stripped preban lowers since they are erroring on the side of caution and interpreting the law to be that the rifle had to be fully assembled before Sep 94' in preban configuration and without solid paperwork, they quite often only now deal in fully assembled rifles. Yes this is a gray area and many people, myself included, only worry about manufactured date of the lower, not assembly. But keep this in mind when shopping around. I know more than half of the FFLs I talked to wouldn't import a preban stripped lower I was considering buying because it could not be proved that it was fully assembled in to preban configuration before the ban. |
