| Anyone know of a gun buy back anywhere in Northern NJ coming up? Preferably one with a high rate (I've heard of up to $200 each). |
|
I love the story of the guy who rounded up a bunch of inoperable/rusty guns from members of his community and gun club, turned them into a buy back and used the money to fund the purchase of rifle's, ammo and prizes for a kids shooting program. Warms the cockles of my heart. |
Get over yourself... |
that's pretty silly, just like your one vote won't count, right? Maybe selling back a gun benefits you personally, but it doesn't benefit the cause. |
+ 1000 on this one! Why would you want to participate in some antigun sponsored bullshit? You don't want your firearm, put it up on the EE! People like you are what will be the achillies heel that leads the antis to victory! |

Relax gentleman. Have you wondered why you have not seen any gun buybacks lately.....they were a miserable failure. Overall with few exceptions, the buybacks resulted in nothing more then a junk collection....with alot of money being paid for inoperable junk. The "theme" nowadays is to voluntarily turn in your dangerous weapon and receive amnesty from potential future prosecution. Payment is a thing of the past. RG |

How long before Hitlery fires up her gun buy back program in 2009? PRESIDENT UNVEILS GUN BUYBACK PLAN By ERIC SCHMITT Published: September 10, 1999 Stepping up the Federal Government's fight against gun violence, President Clinton today announced a $15 million program to buy back firearms from private owners. Under the first Federal effort of its kind, the Department of Housing and Urban Development would provide grants of up to $500,000 to police departments around the country to buy back and destroy as many as 300,000 weapons, mainly in and around public housing projects. The housing department is suggesting that the authorities offer $50 a gun, either in cash, food, gift certificates, toys or tickets to sporting events. Mr. Clinton's announcement capped a daylong rally and lobbying push here by scores of mayors, police chiefs, religious leaders and other local officials who favor tighter gun controls. ''Every gun turned in through a buyback program means potentially one less tragedy,'' Mr. Clinton said at a White House ceremony, where he was flanked by mayors and uniformed police chiefs. Housing Secretary Andrew M. Cuomo said in a telephone interview that the program would reach at least 30 sites nationwide, beginning in late November. ''If there's a gun around the house that's accessible, that's not being used by a sportsman or a hunter, and you need a small amount of money,'' Mr. Cuomo said, ''bring it in and we'll buy it.'' ................................................. |
lol....well I guess if "Annie Hilery" brings this to bear, and OUR tax dollars are funding it....I see no reason why WE shouldn't get our slice of the pie! I'd have no problem finding and turning in inoperable pieces of crap for $50 a pop. BUT I'd be seriously suprised if cash were the pay-off nowadays. RG |

I have an old Mossberg 12 gauge bolt action shotgun that I'd like to offload. Its perfectly operable but the C-Lec choke threads are shot. Now this is something I doubt I'd sell on the EE but if I got $75-$100 from a gun buyback I'd rather have that $$$ in my pocket. BTW... Anyone want it?? |
|
Remember also that whenever these "buy backs" get promoted under the false pretense of making the community "safer".....the media is all over it and will w/o question deem it a success, REGARDLESS of what actually happens. You won't hear about how a ton of already inoperable "weapons" were turned in, or even how very few if any were turned it. The point is the media will deem these anti-gun efforts an overwelming success....SO whats wrong with getting our slice of the pie when it's available? We're on the shit end of the stick no matter what. If they're giving, I'm taking. If you feel bad about it contribute to the GOA, NRA, or ANY pro gun cause you favor. RG |
| I can understand why you wouldn't want to make a gun buyback look like a success. On the other hand, you can make it look foolish. One example would be a gun club (or individual I suppose) could buy 200 Russian M44s for $69 each and turn them in for $200 each for a profit of $26,000. You can even invite the media to report it and record it yourself for Youtube (since the media probably wouldn't report it). |

Anyone ever thought of doing some kind of counter-protest or something? Like open carry (not here obviously) while picketing, or having signs with photos of your guns saying "you will never get mine", or "my means of self/family defense is worth more than $50". Or, better yet, offer more money for anything good you see someone trying to turn in. Private sales are still legal in NY. |
I have a couple rifles I wouldn't even post in EE for fear of being laughed off the forums. I'd gladly take $250 each for them. Hell, I'd take $50 for them. They're junk. No self respecting firearms collector would own them (I'm not self respecting ). You guys ever see pics of the garbage they collect on these buyback programs? What a disgrace and waste of taxpayer money. Recommendation: Sell your junk and donate the funds to a 'young shooter' program at your local club. One of my clubs has one (youngsters don't need a rifle, the club supplies). If yours doesn't start one. |
