Hello All I am new to ar15.com and I am trying to determine what consitutes an assault weapon under New York Law. I want to buy a preban receiver and I want to know what date the receiver has to be made in order to be considered preban under this law. I looked up the defintion of Assault Weapon and it says the weapon needs to be manufactuered before 10/01/1993. Others have told me that the date is the date of the Now expired Federal Assault Weapons Ban of Sept 14, 1994. Does anyone knwo the correct date? Or who I can Call to find out? |
As long as a lower receiver was manufactured prior to Sept. 14th 1994 you can build what ever you want. If the receiver was made after the above date no folding stocks, no flash hiders, no bayonet lugs, and no threaded barrels. 1981 |
