Well this is one thing ive never really bothered with in NJ. But are they classified as Pistols or AOW? Because if it is, its immume to the AWB. I see things like the B&T TP9, aka Steyr TMP, and i wonder if they are legal here. B&T TP9
Without the folding stock and silencer of course. But i see these all the time at PA gun shows as well as other various MP's. Best part is you can get 10-15 Round mags for them. Now obviously such weapons like Mac 10/11 and things like that are on the ban list, im pretty sure, but there are some things out there that arent. Like for example the Bushmaster Pistols. They have no stock so isnt it considered a pistol until you put one on it? Same goes with the various AK's out there and other things with no stocks
This post is just out of curiosity because ive never seen anyone in NJ own such things or see any laws about them.

Anything at all that is fully automatic is classified by BATFE as a machine gun and thusly is illegal in NJ without an impossible to procure machine gun license.

The standard semi auto TP9 pistol does appear to be NJ legal.

Ah i see, wasnt sure if there was a seperate law for those.

But that brings me to my next question. What about rifles that are built with no stocks and are classified as Pistols according to the dealer? AWB and general rifle rules do not apply correct? And you would need a handgun permit as well i assume?

That looks like a really expensive, higher tech Mac, sorta Mac meets Drozd.

Make sure you look well into the laws governing pistols and rifles. I pistol does not simply become a rifle by adding a stock and vice versa, not in the laws eyes at least.

Yeah idk, thats just what ive heard on the HKpro.com Boards. And im mostly talking about Rifles with no stocks being classified as pistols, but then putting a stock on them, therefore now all NFA and rifle rules apply. And that price i think is just MSRP, ive seen them for around 600-800

B. a semi-automatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of the following:

an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;
a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer;
a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned;
manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and
a semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm; and,

So let me get this straight, if it has up to 2 of the above its Legal and if it has more than 2 of the above its illegal? Well the TP9 is about 44 Ounces so thats out. Now what if i wanted to add lets say a red dot or a verticle grip of some sort and it goes over 50 Ounces? Is that OK or does the wieght only count for the pistol alone and not the attachments? Im still not 100% sure on these things. Kinda hope someone can give me a better explaination on the above

vertical grips on a pistol are a big no-no unless you have it registered with BATFE as an AOW.

Two or more is illegal. Weight is determined w/mag prior to accessories.  This has been covered before.  Read the thread that NY_crawler started.

hmm understood. The pistol by itself doesnt seem to fall under any of those categories, so i guess adding a pistol grip is fine.

Thanks for the responses and sorry for the nonsense question after question. Just being carefull because i know some jerkoff at Ft Dix will same something i bet. Always wanna make sure im not doing wrong.

I am pretty sure that you can't add a verticle grip to a pistol.  Nothing to do with weight.
