I would have asked this in the "Calverton MDTS" thread but......this would relate to ANY other class. Is anyone bringing a back up rifle? I decided on the AK platform because i have (2) of them, as opposed to (1) AR. I plan to start off with a WASR and use my Saiga as a back up in case "Murphy" decides to pay a visit. I also entertained the idea of bringing the AR with 600 rounds as back up since it has 30 rounders as opposed to the Saiga with it's limited 10 round mags. The reason i didn't start off with the AR platform is because i'd rather stick to the same caliber so i don't have to lug around 2 cases of seperate ammo. What are you guys planning on doing? Going with a "Plan B" or just one rifle? And for those going to the Calverton class....how many are bringing a sidearm? My buddy and myself will have sidearms for the class. |

bring the ar if that is what you would use if shtf. nice to see if it lasts out the class, don't you think? if you are concerned about the rifle bring an extra complete bolt. that was the piece most people had problems with anyway. improper or no staking. sidearms are a must! transition drills are a part of training (if you have a pistol).... learning to manipulate all of the controls and holstering etc. are fun and unique. this is what makes training and these classes unique to the shoot 2..3..4..5..shoot typical days at the range.
