I am trying to get a run down on the Calverton Range on Long Island. I am hoping to hold a defensive shotgun course there, but am unfamiliar with this particular range. Price to rent to hold a class? (MONDAY AND TUESDAY) Are there props, or do I bring my own? Doors, corners, barrels, Are there backers? stands? Slug plates? Movers? Any nice, but cheap hotels in the area? Facilities? Any information would be great? Thanks and be safe, [email protected] www.LMIInc.com |

Don't know prices, but they do have secluded ranges there for the classes It's a pretty austere range with regards to even normal range features. You're pretty much guaranteed the need to completely supply your own props, stands etc. There may be stands in those areas but there are no interactive targets, plates or movers. Facilities are limited to a couple port-o-shitters by the pistol range. On weekends there's a dirty water dog saleman and target and ammo sales. I know they're closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. www.calshoot.com/ Why yes, I am interested. ETA... I just got off the phone with Harry. He answers the "person" phone # on the website. $20 per person to shoot. They are closed on Tue and Weds to allow clubs, private orgs and LEAs to shoot there. He said they're a Homeland Security Training Facility and as such have a "Police" range you can use. You will need to provide your own props, stands, etc and clean up upon completion. |
I can only imagine the $$$ that would be required to dig all the decades of lead from the berms, woods and embedded in the trees there. I think the correct term is "superfund site." |
Thanks Sherm, I was worried that I might actually have to shoot at the safe and safety conscious Brookhaven range, shudder, and not wonder if the guy on the next bench is Mustaffa Abib Abad and will start shooting us infidels, or if the teen on the far right is of age to shoot at all ! |
