I'm moving from PA to NJ this fall (family reasons). I'm familiar with the permit process as I lived in NJ before. I have two questions: 1) What are the relevant laws regarding carrying a knife or a flashlight like the E2D with the strike bezel? 2) What are the rules for AK ownership in NJ? There is the banned firearm list in the statute along with no flash-hider, no collapsible stock and 15 round mags. Am I missing anything? Thank you for your help! |
Dont forget to change your flag to the red hammer and slicker and state im a believer in the communist party oops i mean the democratic party. Praise premier Corzonie ill submit and hand in all my firearms for the good of the permier.. I totally feel for you.. Cant live near the border of pa and maybe commute ? or have the family memeber move to pa with you ? If not maybe storing your firearms in pa and visit often ? |

Stroudburg is about and hour from my condo in NJ,In NJ i need storage and it was running around 105 bucks for a 5x10 so i thought of renting out there found one for 40 bucks saved me money and i am shooting out there any way im me if you and info |

I do all of my shooting in NJ anyway. I have family in South Jersey that I enjoy shooting with. I have been looking at AR's before I move. I have a good knowledge of what is legal for AR's in NJ. As for AK's and knife laws, I'm a bit green. Any info on these items would be great. Thanks! |

i cant help you with the flashlight thing because im not aware of a flashlight being considered a weapon and therefore not banned in new germany i mean jersey. although with the legality of a staple gun in question in this state im not to sure... as for the blades im pretty sure its a 4inch blade limit and a total length of 6 or 8 inches, dont quote me on that, but i am sure of the blade length. as far as AK's, you can get a siaga, its LIKE an ak.. kinda, sorta... and there cheap and eat up wolf ammo like my AR eats brass (which is alot) |

I just carry whatever I feel like in the knife department. I think there are no real clear rules. Some say 4" some say no bigger than accross the palm or four fingers. It depends allot on how you carry yourself in this state. If you don't look guilty and keep you trap shut if and when you get pulled over, you will probably be OK. If for whatever reason a LEO wants to get you, he will get you in Jersey. I wouldn't worry too much. The AK probably has the same limitations as the AR. No bayonette lug, mags 15 rounds or less, no flash supressor, no collapsable stock. No, no,no,no.... Stay in Pa. Bro! |
| You'll be fine carrying a small tactical folder in your pocket. I carry one every single day and never have a problem (in fact, no one notices). If you use it to defend yourself, though, it may get a bit sticky because of the strange self-defense law in NJ (or lack thereof). I doubt you'll have anyone give you a second look for carrying an E2D. |

Knives are up to the discretion of the responding officer. The knife you carry must be "reasonable" for your intended use. And self-defense is NOT an acceptable use, if a cop does happen to question you as to why you have a folder, or any other blade, and you say "self-defense" you're going in in cuffs. There's no actual length restrictions, and NJ doesn't differentiate between concealed and open carry of weapons. So if you have a knife, have a really good excuse, and hope the responding officer deems it "reasonable." I don't think you'd have trouble with a small tac-light. But I remember a couple years back the NJSP was arresting people for possession of a weapon when they found the large D-cell Mag Lites during vehicle searches. So, I'd be wary, especially with the crenelated bezel on E2Ds... It might just be interpreted as a weapon. |
Im surprised they dont arrest people for having a tire iron in the trunk of their car...Thats a concealed weapon ya know.
|
Yup. But usually you tell the dirtbag to put it in the trunk or face arrest. That way you get a look at the hidden stuff. |
Sneaky technique!

When legally-transporting handguns in a vehicle without a seperate trunk/rear compartment they must be securly-fastened in a locked box or tied package out of reach of the driver... Maybe it's the same with flashlights and tire irons? |
