There are lots of ideas swirling around in the noggin and I'm a slow typer, so this'll be piece-meal: Villain characters Setting: a small-rural town in Up-State NY with a Rock or mining operation being operated by some Middle Easterners that came up from the 'City' to start a business in an old quarry with earth mounded around the sides making observation difficult. *able to obtain explosives (mining operation) * easily able to hire * able to cachet arms, ammunition, and supplies in hidden mine shafts. *mine serves as an underground fortress. * sell a little stone to make money. * "Break Time" is ironically the same time as daily prairs. * See the Super secret leader down below. Dumb/Arrogant Characters Powerless LEO's, clueless Government agencies, Spineless, self serving politicians. The hot-shot loner cop who knows something amiss, but nobody listens. The Rookie trying to make a name for himself and wants to believe the hot-shot, but is scared of not playing by the books he was indoctrinated on. After an attack, the Govt. decides to ban & confiscate all AW's (except the ones the terrorists have hidden away) and the ones the Hero's have and .gov doesn't know about. Twist: The recrutement of Muslems in prisons...by targeting those with a history of violence, they are indoctrinated into the "teachings" and in a prison break using stolen Military vehicles (from a local NG/AR marked as a Convoy) and the carefully orcherstrated takeover of the prison by the prisoners, the bad guys free the prisoners and use them in their evil plot. They were pre-disposed to violence and have litle conscious in "sticking it to the man" until shortly after their escape when they decide as a gang to persuit their own interests and split off from the terrorists that sponsored them. (of course there'll have to be a fight/murder between them to light the fuse) Now being weakened by their lack of unity, they're easier to defeat. Victims: Un-prepared, totally reliant people. Gotta have the single Mom with a ten year old & a dog. Hero's: Band of like minded, SHTF prepared individuals who've heard about to encampment, but weren't bothered by it until "the attack" and they had to flee or defend againts the rabble pouring out of the City. Feel free to add your thought, ideas, and characters after all this is a movie plot based on real, but impossible possibilities.

The single mom has to have a smokin body. In the beginning you see a father teaching his son how to shoot at an outdoor range telling him the story of how the bad politicians once tried to take away the right he was enjoying that very moment and explaining that it isn't just a right that gives enjoyment , but that it also protects life and liberty.......continuing on to tell a story ( the movie ). Flash to the meat of the movie stated originally. The end should include that the mine is filled in and compacted with the remains of the terrorist group ( dead or alive ) in the land-fill and a new black rifle factory gets built on the site. |

Uh, no I didn't. Strictly satire, nothing that really hasn't or isn't current in our real world, everyday live. Good suggestion on the single mom, we'll add that a little later.

You need hookers if it's going to be on TV. They can be active duty hookers, or former hookers making a fresh start on life, but you won't even get the script read by any of the networks without hookers. If you're going for the big screen, you'll need hookers AND a reformed drug addict in a moral dilemma. |
OK we'll make the "single Mom" with the smoke'n hot body a FORMER hooker who got knocked up by a reformed drug addict, but she dumped him when she found out that she would be one of his four wives, and when the SHTF she gets back together with her hooker friends, of which one has a brother that's in prison and has joined the Muslems while serving time for murder. |

I must admit that I have been cogitating on this since i saw the first post. It sounds like you have the whole thing covered. Except maybe to make the single mom black, and the dog a golden retriever named Boomer. Oh, and the people streaming out of town are zombies! |

Ironically there's one living next door to us. Before he joined the Marines, he spent three years living and working in a Conservation Corps Camp so far back in the woods that it took a hour to reach 'civilization'. WWII might be a little too old as most of the Veterans still alive are in their eighty's or more, Korean war Vets are hugging their seventy's, Vietnam Vets are in their 60's....maby a slightly bitter about not 'finishing' the job SF soldier from the Gulf War, who after his enlistment learn what's really what was going on. How about this: The bitter SF is taking care or his Father, who's living deep in the woods in a trailer/camp? The old man was a great sense of humor that was developed after returning from tours in both the Pacific and European theaters of WWII, and is trying to make his son 'get over it', but the son won't be satisfied until total victory is achieved. |

All this talk about the mountains and popcorn! Takes me back to my summers as Rifle Instructor at Camp Sun Mountain in the Poconos outside Stroudsburg PA in the 70's. And making popcorn with lard in a big cast-iron pot over a trash fire. Hey, do you think the campers in the Catskills would like some made-in-lard popcorn? Seriously though, fp1201, your original plot line sounds good. It does, however, sound like two or three stories tied together by a common link. Or if you wish, the quarry story and the SHTF story might be one long one-reminiscent of Steven King's "The stand". The prison plot line is neat, too. It seems like a different story to me. It could have its own telling, but if you try to incorporate that sub-plot into the quarry gang jihad thing, i feel it would be minimized the potential plot development. Perhaps this is a trilogy. First installment: the buying up of the quarry/mine/tunnels by bad evil people (introducing and developing the LEO's, heroes/antiheroes, and other smaller characters). Begining of the militarization of the Jihadists, etc. All members who are not citizens are required to become naturalized citizens, and they are instructed to buy only one gun a month, so as to keep under the radar. Three years later, 800 members have bought 28,800 guns in the name of him who can not be named. Second installment; The Managment has used the Union rules/Equal opportunity laws to their own advantage to remove anyone who does not "appreciate" their guidelines and religion (Sharia). Meanwhile emmisaries and representatives from Amnesty International have insinuated themselves into the prison support network. Working with M.I.M. (Maoist International Movement) they begin converting convicts to Islam and convincing them that "the Man" REALLY has been keeping them down. To thicken the plot there may be a few really violent ones who get into trouble. Of course the judicial system takes pity on them because of their race/religion and gives them only a few hours of community service. Behind the scenes, the Imams are arranging bigger and better weapons for their major action. (you can fill in any blanks here, I have no idea what is out there or what they may think of) Second insatllation ends when the stupid LEO finally tumbles upon the truth and gets killed for his effort. The other (rogue) team shows up too late to save them/him/her but sets off the alarm for all to hear. Third installation; begins with our heroes trying to convince everyone in authority; NY State police, FBI, INS, and maybe even politicians, that they have to act. (Not the Atf, though, those guys are cock-ups). Nobody listens, not even the NRA, and presipitous to THE event there are a few hajis who can't wait and do their own thing. Of course they die and the press calls for more gun control and Alec Baldwin makes special guest appearences on the View. But none of that stops the main event. I have no idea what it is but its bad. Maybe Marc can fill in this part ('cuz he's pretty good at this stuff, too, you know). (Prolly better'n me, 'cuz everything i write somehow turns into satire  )Whatever it is, its bad enough to drive the populus out of the city (maybe Binghamton, so they all move north) Maybe a break down of water, or food, or electrical delivery systems. Maybe sewage. Then comes the last part about preparedists being prepared. Of course there are different types of us, too. Some sit behind their ammo forts and some just carry on. Of the refugees some are willing to work, and they do, and that's all good. Some just come to steal, with subsequent plot lines. I would like to see a later plot line where the farmers/makers are eventually strong enough to go back up there to the quarry/mine/tunnels and root out the evil. The Preparedists and their new helper/soldiers versus the ones who would twist religion to suite their goals. Of course they die, but not until after a long, hard, bloody, engagement. But that may be another chapter. |

Hidden Agenda: The secret supreme leader of the terrorist Cells (miltiple, but we're focusing on one) has a plan where his "cells" are activated, which causes the Govt. to highten knee-jerk actions, in the form of Martial law, Gun confiscations, Media Sensorship,,... AND deploy more troops to the Middle East and as soon as HE decides there are enough troops there, the Iranians detonate a neuclear weapon a few hous after launching as many missles a possible (just when they think the attack is over and everyone is outside helping/rescueing/... for maximum effect). Americans are shocked, dead, and dis-armed. Jewish and Christians in the region are dead and dying. Followers of Islam who died in the name of Allah get their 72 virgins, (wonder what the Women get? oh yea, nothing becasue they aren't really people) Scarry as hell, but if a dumb-ass like me can think of it, imagine what somwone hell bent on destruction in the name of his God could come up with.
