Ok, so I assume this rifle is NY compliant? Besides the 30rnd mag that comes with it. Can probably just have the dealer take it out, unless that's not kosher. Don't see how that would be a problem though. |
I've been wondering about that myself. There was a thread about this a couple months ago but I can't search for it. Maybe a team member can bump it for us. I'm pretty sure the thread concluded that it is NY legal but now people are saying the muzzle device is both a brake and a flash hider, which would make it illegal. A thumbhole stock was ruled to be a pistol grip by the BATF during the Federal AWB. It's definately a grey area and I would assume it is not legal until there is an official NYS ruling that the muzzle device is not a flash hider or a thumbhole stock is not a pistol grip. Both of which will probably never happen. I'd really like to own one when the price comes down. $2200+ is very expensive plastic.

You might be right, if the thumbhole stock is indeed considered a pistol grip (which is the dumbest thing ever). Then we are SOL. Because the FS2000 had a welded on flash hider (at least that's what it looks like) and unlike the PS90 (which is legal in NY). The FS2000 has a detachable mag that extends below the grip. That would be 3 features, done. If someone has a different take than my understanding, feel free to comment. |
I'm pretty sure the language about magazine protruding below the grip applies to pistols only. |
your right on that account.. mags protruding below the grips on rifles has no relation/significance in this case. |

Even if it is considered a pistol grip, the muzzle device is classified by FN as an angled muzzle break, and with no bayo lug, rifled grenade launcher, or folding/collapsing stock, the rifle has only one evil feature. On top of that, the rifles some standard with either a 10- or 30- round magazine depending on the state of sale. NY is a definate market. I asked the question of FN to be sure, and FN claimed these rifles are indeed NY compliant, as is the PS90. So you're good to go. They use standard AR mags, so go for broke. I'd wait for the all black ones and for the price to drop a little personally. But if you have the cash, you can get one today. |
Very cool, just about what I figured. Agreed on waiting for a black version (assuming FN will offer them), not that the ODs don't look good though. Guessing the street value will eventually be in the $1600-$1700 area. Thanks for the posts folks. |

There's a couple on gunsamerica for sale now under "Fabrique Nationale Rifles." The cheapest is $2250. |
Cheapest I found is $1999 (same place that guy on the forum got his from). Checked yesterday and he still had some left. Not surprising, $2k is still spendy. |
