I'm looking to pick up a DSA FAL with cash in hand but can't seem to find a motivated dealer that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. The motivation of the dealers to sell/transfer guns here in NJ sucks! They don't seem very motivated. I have the DSA rifle picked out and have spoken to DSA as well. Anyone have a good dealer in NJ? |

Jim at Actions Shooter Supply in Haledon charges about $40. He's just as "friendly and cheerful" as the Bullet Hole, though. You can reach him at 973-942-6464 or [email protected]. |

The Ramsey Outdoor in Ramsey and in Paramus wouldn't do a transfer since they could get the firearm themselves. I was told at both stores that they only like to do personal transfers, they won't do a new firearm transfer. Of course they might not be able to get that FAL, so check with them. FWIW, Meltzers also wouldn't do a transfer on a new firearm. |
Just a quick question for NoSoupForYou...you know FFLs in NNJ, and post here in NY/NJ Hometown, averaging better than 50 posts a dsay since you registered, yet your IP resolves to Houston TX...I gotta ask: are you at college and on Spring Break this week? and coeds to chase?

Hey, why you looking at my IP?!?! ![]() ![]() |
I am surprised. I did nine new gun transfers this past year, and my friend did seven. The head of the gun departments in all stores was a guy named Keith. I spoke to him one time, and he was friendly, and actually gave mer a break on one transfer sisnce I had done so many with them. I think there is a place called Bergen Sports out your way. They may do it.

Dont ever go here - BERGEN SPORTING GOODS sucks Small store and big prices The owner actully charged me $5 per week to hold my transfer which took the police dept 3 months to get. The thing that burns me about it is that he didn't tell me or have a sign until I picked it up. Scum bag! Just stay away unless you want to pay 100 to 200 bucks more then any other NJ store. |

I would recommend Ramsey Outdoor (Ramsey location) on Rt17 S. I bought my Sig from them and had a used Mossberg 590 transfered through them about a week ago. Obviously if it is something they may carry or can get, they will prob not do the transfer. They charged me $35 for the transfer and of course the $15 NIX fee. Not to bad a deal, $35 is reasonable for a transfer IMHO. ^_^_^ |
Bates Paterson Rod & Gun 845 Belmont Avenue North Haledon, NJ 07508 (973) 427-5258 Ask for Dave only tell him Thom sent you. Did you purchase already OR can he purchase for you? He has a nicely stocked store, fishing & bate also. I sent Chris1280 there, he got such a low price on a piece he called me to see if the dude was real. Dave is knowledgeable AND customer oriented. I say ask for Dave only because he knows me by name, his father does not. Patronize this place regularly and he will give you GREAT service and the family the "family" discount. |
Most places - IF they can get the product OR stock the product will charge more for a transfer. If they are "wetting their beak" they will deal. - I look to OPTIMIZE my purchases also, but if WE don't search out GOOD, HELPFUL and HONEST dealers, AND do business with THEM, they will eventually go out of business. If they go out of business where will you go then. I'm not saying to NOT SHOP around, but if you can purchase reasonably LOCALLY you should. Build your relationships with people who try to be good to you all the time - it is YOUR money and your business should be treated with respect. Ask Edb - he was doing business on a regular basic with ?, slips my mind - the merchant crapped on Edb, Edb no longer does business there. IM him if you like. [Mrs. L_d yelling in background] Bedtime! |
I thought Paterson Rod & Gun was closed EDIT my bad, never mind this is in North Haledon, NJ not patterson - duh

Tellin'g ya Doc- good people. I will go with you for intro... he's finishing up a MKIII for me. LMK. |
Still waiting to hear back from Jack as usual a lack of motivation from FFLs |
|
Oh well, that makes 4 dealers I called and all 4 failed to respond. Too many "I'll get back to you," "I had a death in the family," "You call them and let me know..." No wonder the dealers in NJ are hurting. Can't find one that wants to sell or transfer a $1400 gun. Anyway, if anyone wants to sell a para FAL in NJ/NY/CT/PA area LMK. Until then I'll stick with the ARs and M1A. GroundFire |
Jack? No Dave. |
Thanks for the offer but I already told DSA to cancel the order. I was looking for an STG58 (Austrian) FAL. I'm so annoyed I just don't want to deal with anyone in NJ. I'll be moving to Long Island in 2 months for a year. I'll buy it then. Maybe it will be easier buying from NY dealers. And if not, I go to Florida a few times a year. I'll buy it in FL and ship it to myself. I just don't have much faith in NJ dealers any more. Plus, NJ dealers charge too much anyway. |
and coeds to chase?
