It's bad enough that we have to get these God damned permits just to be allowed to accept our second amendment rights, but then they have to go an pull this crap... My town gives 2 hours per week to give in your application for pistol permit and to pick your permit up. The time is Wednesday night 7-9PM. Even if they call you on Thursday to tell you that your permit is ready to be picked up, you still have to wait a week to go get it. So I go there on time, tell the desk guy that I have to go to the detective bureau to drop off an application (just hand it in, no other action required), but he tells me that no one is there! Did I mention that this is the second week that no one has been there, and I already paid for the pistol, I am just waiting to get the damn permit because NJ is full of liberal scumbags who make us jump thru hoops. So I tell him politely that no one was there last week either and I just have to drop it off, I ask if I could leave the application with someone since this is the only 2 hours per week that it could be done and I would have to wait another week. He replies with "no one is there". Well thanks, I didn't hear you say that the first time Sorry for interrupting your dinner!I am just so pissed off. It's bad enough that we have to get permits, but then they break their own policies on getting the damned thing. Of course it's the police I am dealing with here so there is absolutely no recourse, I guess I'll just continue going there on Wednesday nights until someone is finally there. Hopefully the pistol that I purchased isn't rusted by then |

AR-M9, Get the Detectives number at his desk and leave a message with him to call you when he is at his desk for awhile ( these guys are busy and usually only one Det. is assigned to this task of issueing permits) and if you are close by, he'll wait for you to pick up the permit. You may want to establish a good reportoire (sp) with the guy, because you will always be back for another permit. Its worked for me.Just remember to be professional and courteous. Good luck |

Hire an attourney and sue them for failure do something....... They always settle out of court in NJ. Or maybe get a permit from a judge to protest on PD property. Fu$$ the police! There are few cops I have ever met that are not major d-heads. Very few. I never feel bad for any of them for anything. No other profession acts this way and is also as big a buch of excuse makers. (except politicians) |
Dang! Don't you just love it when you need something and ppl pull this kind of crap on you! Sorry to hear you live in a crappy state gun-wise. |

Silly wabbit "Sir, I'm going on a hunting vacation which means alot to me, away from home, soon. It is imperative that I get this taken care of before I go, so that I can bring my pistol, which my dealer is holding for me, with me. Can you please just take this one application, now, for me? Thanks!" I'd put money down that if you had said something along those lines, he'd have taken your app. |
We've got a window in my local township for getting fingerprinting done for firearms applications, I think it's 1-3pm Wednesdays. I spent an hour and a half sitting in the office waiting, and the detective never showed up, so I do know how you feel. Not much recourse except to call before you leave to make sure the guy is there.......... |
My paperwork w/check ALL disappeared - LOST - in the department. Sgt. tells me, he "knows" me, 10 days I be in action. I was in no rush - 6 weeks later I call. Same Sgt. looks for the paperwork - find NADA! He embarassingly asks if I am sure I brought it in - I say, "aaah yes!" Please refill, I'll wait - he does. He examines all documents - Monday it'll be ready. Monday I call, he's on vacation - s'ok I have his email. No problem. Tells me to see Det. So & So - on Thursday, he'll put before Capt. for his SIG. Long story short - that doesn't happen. I call to I email, no response - why should he poor bastard has the chicken pox, I cell call leave a serious but POLITE joking laughter filled message about what happened to my 4 day wait - tell him I hope he's feeling better, etc. 5 mins. later I arrive home to a message plesae come pick up you PERMITS AT MY convenience. 15 mins. later I had the little approved - press firmly you are making 4 copies - in my slightly arthritic paw. ![]() ![]() ![]() B_T_H: it is rapport, not reportoire! ![]() |
Far from one, however, many ARFCOMERS and some our fellow shooters are police officers, none of which have a bad bone in them. Yes New Jersey has its drawbacks, but I just cannot pick up and move, so here I remain like many others to fight the good fight. As far as waiting for permits, you have to be patient, its one of those things we learn in NEW JERSEY |
What makes you think the PD is not. Many police departments such as where I live only assign ONE officer to handle permits, duty comes first. Everything else is secondary. I know first hand because I went thru it TWICE. I actually understand what goes on in my municipality. Now, some on this thread were being negative such as the cop bashing and threatening a suit, both of which are not encouraging in this matter. I surely hope AR-M9 gets his permits |
|
So let us see should he keep going and doing the right thing for a couple of months and because it is a secondary thing, he is screwed. It is not cop bashing because the truth is the rules are the rules. Also from the 4 or 5 police I know from Jersey they do feel only they should have guns. Not one of them thinks civvies are allowed. In matter of fact they tell me they look for legal gun holders going to ranges to hassle them. Now I would go to the station and ask the deck if there is someone like a Commander that yu could talk to. If not then go to the chamber of commerce and speak to some one there. Then after that get a lawyer and sue their ASSES off. Sometimes lawyers are the only way to get peoples attention |
Sorry for interrupting your dinner!
