permit question > New York

I am selling my glock to a PA resident. Can i take the glock to a gunshop in PA on saturday, then go to the NY courthoues the following week to take the pistol off my permit, or do i have to wait till its off my permit to take it to the gunshop. I have never sold a firearm before and want to make sure everything is legal. thanks

It depends on your local permit authority. Most if not all counties require disposition be made to a New York State licensed dealer.

You need to ask your licensing officer in the county where your permit was issued. Each county has its own rules and procedures. You can't amend your license until the pistol has been legally transferred to either a dealer or another pistol permit holder.

I'm sorry but I bought one and didn't like it, even bought a 22lr conversion kit to try and like it all to no avail.

Generally speaking: All you need do is send it to a licensed FFL, and then report to your issueing office for an amendment to remove the pistol. Of course they'll want to know where it went, and that will be noted on the amendment. BTW: they will charge you to remove as well as add to your licenses. Couple months ago, I finally had almost a dozen removed that I had sold over the last ten years.....boy did I get bitched at.
