23 hike

I decided to start a new thread for this hike to get some awareness.

Right now, I’m hoping to start off light and get a feel for what we’re supposed to do. Maybe get some info from people interested and come up with a good plan for the spring time.

Please PM me for the location for this hike. I’m hoping to keep it to arfcom posters and family members for now until things get moving and kinks get worked out. I’m not promising greatness but it’s a start! Please feel free to share ideas or discussion. I’ll be @ some people in the next post.

Date: 1/7/23 at 8am (open to alternate times but please post a better time and reason).

Thanks for launching the new thread.

I have been in touch with @Ben, about APC, and possibly re-launching a new NTX or DFW Chapter.

Ordered a few of the handbooks for people to read through if they're interested.

I'll be there with a heavy pack, and a scale to help people verify their pack weight, in case we decide to count this towards the requirements.

Look forward to seeing local peeps there

I'd point out that if you have three people participating who are all not related by blood or marriage, it should count for the ones wearing packs as a hike, even if some are not wearing packs.

The witnesses don't necessarily need packs.

So. We talking a long hike, like the farthest parking spot from the bar, or something even more ridiculous?

Time and distance to be expected?

The trail is just under 3.7 miles, along lake Lewisville.

Out and back

Should take under an hour or so to complete, not much elevation change.

I plan to carry a 45lb pack

It’s not much but we are trying to get something started. You are more than welcome to walk to the bar afterwards

Thank you Ben. Only one person 45lbs with the appropriate pace. I only had 35 in my park but I intend to bring 45lbs next time.

I'd have to double check, but I believe Provisional only required 35lbs, or 25lbs and a weapon.
