I bought a 5qt jug of Mobil 1 from Walmart today and noticed a line on my receipt that says "TXOIL REIMBU" for $0.05. This was my first time buying oil since moving to Texas. Anyone know anything about this? Is this a charge or a refund?

I think I found some info on it. There is a 1 cent tax charged on every quart of oil.

I wonder if the tax is refunded if you drop off your used oil?

I've never been reimbursed for my used oil but probably not the effort to get a quarter each time.

I keep my used motor oil to start fires. Why do I need reimbursement for used oil when I'm going to use a couple bucks worth of diesel to start it anyway.
