I stoped by to see if they had stripped lowers, WOW , How are they in business? $19.99 magpul mags, $699 ns glock 43's , $900 silencerco octane? $649 glock 19's , really?? Are people that dumb? $1299 for a silencerco specwar? I asked about the specwar if that was retail ( retail is $972) and he said "no that is a greatly discounted price " i just smiled and walked out.
Then I remembered I had been in that place before, during the magpul panic.... They where trying to sell used 30 round mags for $150 and the guy in the wheelchair ( must be the owner since he was there today too ) told me " you better get them now before they are gone or go up in price " .

| Where is that LGS located? I know the biggest LGS here likes to hit up the big box stores when they have great sales and buy a lot of shit and then turn around and sell it for a lot higher. They like the buy cheap sell high model. One reason I do not really shot there. |

Yes, even more ridiculous prices than collectors firearms. |

I used to get my transfers done there, when they were $15. Then my dad transferred a lower and they charged him $60... and while we were picking it up, they had managed to lose 4x seekins lowers for another guy behind me in line.
Not to mention, a while back they asked if I had ever heard a 22 suppressor. I said no, so the guy pulls one from behind the counter and starts shooting across the room at a 1ftx1ft back stop on the wall... in the middle of the showroom... pretty reckless. |

I had a good story. Two weeks ago I left work early to head to Austin so I stopped there for the first time ever. The salesman was probably 18-19? I was looking for an R700 in 308. He hands me a fudded up one in 30-06 with a An old school Leupold and "trigger job". No kidding, it was dangerously light. Maybe 1-2 lbs. I'm not a Remington 700 Armorer but I would guess that's way below factory recommended specifications. |

They also happen to have stuff that most dont , in the store. Ive bought 2 guns and have walked away without a few because they wouldnt match others. Im sure they lose sells because of sticker shock but it must be working. They've been there along time, and unlike a local shop thdy've never been rude about me tring to spend money there |

I have gotten 3 revolvers from Collector's that had an excellent price on them and they even lowered the price a bit when I haggled. Just know what you are looking for when you walk in the door. |

The owner at FAF (wheelchair guy) bought a bunch of old shit from closing down FFLs too, which is why his stock is all kinds of weird. Apparently buying things that didnt sell elsewhere is a solid supply chain principle. He treats his staff like servants and he has a service dog that is NOT trained well at all. Prices are sky high and service is average. I have spent money there and used the range just to see what it was all about but I wont darken their doorstep again. |

The places to be cautious of don't have price tags. Pawn shops are notorious for selling used guns above retail at times. Play dumb some time in a place without price tags and see what they try. lol majority of times, this is true. I only go to FAF for the IDPA when i'm in town. |

Not just guns at pawn shops... I've seen old laptops that were so old they wouldn't ever be able to run a modern OS in pawn shops with price tags on them more than what you could buy a brand new decently equipped laptop at Frys. They are usually especially proud of Macs. Guitars too... A while back I was in one and they had a grubby and beat up looking Squier Strat. Squiers are low end and generally not collectible to begin with (except the early MIJ models), and this one was a relatively recent (2007 serial #) Chinese made Bullet, which is the cheapest model. They had it marked $20 more than the everyday price on them at Guitar Center... Realistically used that is a $75 guitar, but this pawn shop was asking double that. Basically told me that I could just leave rather than entertain them an offer too. FWIW, few pawn shops in the Austin area even sell guns in the store anymore (they often have a sign that says to look for them on that site that shall not be named here but rhymes with "gun choker") and some won't even buy them (I assume they don't have an FFL02 for that location). |

I would be interested in knowing what gun stores you have found that sells new guns at 'pretty good pricing'. Collectors can be good depending on what you are looking for. You can haggle! I bought a holster from there and it was the same price as online. Texas Tactical Gear is also on the money! I love that store. |

I would be interested in knowing what gun stores you have found that sells new guns at 'pretty good pricing'. I've just moved out of Frisco but my preferred store was Riflegear. They carry name brand stuff and most things I would say where priced competitively. They didn't, however, have value brand stuff like what you would get from PSA, AIM and the like. (Forget about getting a BCG there, for example) Unfortunately, I only went to Runner Runner for the first time a few weeks before I moved. They pretty much only do AR15 stuff. They have a range from value based to higher end and I would say some of the stuff is within spittin distance of PSA prices. Now I've moved over to Parker county and I need to find new stores |

Went there one time and they had a PTR-91 GI on the wall for $1300 last year. Atlantic Firearms had the same thing for $799 on sale and $899 for regular price. I understand a mark up but that is insane. I buy almost all my online stuff from atlantic. They're awesome. Brick stores are always gonna be higher but thats alot of markup. I usally see about 100 difference at the place down from me. After shilping, transfer, waiting, seeing before i buy, i dont think $100 more than online is a bad deal. |

For those that are posting up stores outside of DFW, I won't comment on their pricing as I will never go to those places.
gt distributors has decent pricing on handguns, I have found them to be overpriced on rifles. For me, once weapons reach the $600 mark, buying out of state becomes cheaper when factoring in sales tax versus shipping. Paying more than $10 for transfers is ridiculous. Other than that, after looking at some of the other sites, I still can find most firearms online cheaper with a 10 minute search. Oilfield, if you are still mil, that G19 was about $100 overpriced after all is said and done. If not retired or still in, G19 Gen 4 after a 5 minute search I have found for $499 plus $12 shipping. Add that $20 transfer fee and it still comes in under your price. MetalRyder, like you said, I have found the X95 around 1700 with free shipping from a couple places. 2200 plus tax and transfer is ridiculous. As far as Runner Runner goes, from the website, they mostly sell their own stuff. So can't really compare pricing. Riflegear. I am not going to check every gun there is but I will comment on two that I saw. The G19 Gen 4 was 539, that seems pretty consistent with every other place in the metroplex. However, as pointed out above, it's still cheaper to buy out of state. Then I searched for a USP Compact, as I am currently wanting one. $994. Holy crap what are they smoking!?!?!? CDNN has these for $699. I am done with them, I will find my stuff online for cheaper. |

So here's the thing about FAF... They sell their service. Yes their sales staff are young guys who aren't exceptionally well trained or knowledgeable, but they are engaging, eager young men who have served me well in the past. Yes their prices are high. I bought my Sparrow there and paid probably $75 more for it than I would have elsewhere. I don't regret it. I took my SBR build in there one day to shoot it and get it running. My gas block was jacked up turns out... Not only did they have an adjustable Seekins gas block (which was also over priced) but when I bought it, the asst manager (Matt) put it on for me, GAVE me a new gas tube because the old one was bad, test fired it, tuned it, reassembled my upper and checked it all out for me at no cost. He spent an hour doing all this for me.
Yes they're pricy and yes it's a different style gun shop in terms of their culture, but I like them. I'll keep using them. Probably won't buy any guns there due to price but for minor purchases and range use, I'll go. Additionally the owner (James, the guy in the wheelchair) is a very nice fella, Christian guy who attends 2nd Baptist regularly and he does a lot of philanthropy. Takes in young guys who need a job and some direction and gives them a good example. Most of those kids in there are kids from 2nd Baptist whom he's mentoring. I like the place. |

No one is arguing that you won't save money buying online, but for many the convenience of buying in-store at prices near online prices wins out. I tend to buy an off the shelf gun now and then from the dealers I use for transfers. It'll only take another crackdown like ATF did back in the 90s to run more transfer-only, non-storefront FFLs off, and you can bet online sales will be a target. |
i just smiled and walked out.
