Hello, I would like to know if it is legal for me to Carry my pistol to and from work.  Also is it legal for me to carry concealed at my work, I am the manager and the owner is fine with it.

I will be getting my CHL in a short time, but would like to carry at least to work in the meantime and don't want to do any thing illegal.

I read the "basic gun laws" thread but want to make damn sure I am right.

Does it have to be in the center console / glove box, or can it be in a concealed holster?

I appreciate any input.

Thanks!

As long as it stays in your vehicle(without an HL) as long as it is concealed and you are legally able to possess it you are GTG.  Assuming you fit all the criteria for personally being able to legally possess and you don't work for somebody such as Federal air traffic controllers or the post office??

To/from work concealed in console is fine.

Carry at work is a little more complicated. Boss permission is not enough, you have to be in control of premises (unless you have a HL).

I do not work for anyone like that. and am legally allowed to posses it.

That is what was confusing me. The majority of the time the owner is not here,  and I am in charge, but don't know if that qualifies as "control of the premises"

Thanks for the replies.

If someone needed to be thrown out like if there was a trespasser, and the owner wasn't there, who would make the determination they had to go?  If that's you, then it would seem that you are in "control of the premises".

Or from another angle...  if the owner is not there then who other than you would fit the role of "control of the premises"?  If there isn't anyone else, then it must be you.  It has to be someone, right?

But...  just get your CHL and then it is a non-issue.

Has it been expressly told to you by the owner who has left you in charge one way or the other?  Is it in a company handbook that says you may not carry?  If neither of those, concealed means concealed.

If it were me, and I was the one left in charge, I would carry, as I have a current CHL will be an HL on next renewal.  I would wait for the owner to expressly tell me I can't carry.  My weapon would stay concealed at all times.  Most likely if you are ever caught, you would be told not to do it again, keep it concealed.  At worst you might lose your job.  If there is no proper signage preventing you from carrying, I would be carrying.
