So apparently Silencer Shop has said that they are going to stop selling directly to customers and have become a distributor. With their new business model, they will only ship to a local SOT after the F3, with the local's price being what you pay, and the local's price being on SS website. No transfer fee since you are buying from SS, but it screws TX customers because now we can't buy directly from them and pick it up, and it adds time with a Form 3 transfer. Anyone else been following this? I just found out about it yesterday, and frankly, I'm kinda pissed. I love SS, and I can understand why they want to expand their model, but when your local SOT IS Silencer Shop, or you don't mind making a drive from Houston or Dallas or whatever, it's a inconvenience on time and stress over whether the ATF manage to screw up another form, not just the F4.
Rant over, but I wanted to check and see if any of you guys had purchased a can from them to pick up there since August when they announced it. I really don't like their website now with the pricing set up for each of their "affiliates" being so different. |

Quoted: They are affiliated with Silencer Shop Quoted: Quoted: I just ended up going to Capitol Armory instead. They are affiliated with Silencer Shop According to the employee I spoke with at Capitol Armory, Silencer Shop is one of their distributors. However, Capitol Armory stocks a decent inventory, runs some good specials, prices a lot of stuff cheaper than Silencer Shop, and even has a program where you can pay for your suppressor in monthly installments while you wait on your F4 to be approved. I was also bummed when SS stopped selling direct, but I got over it quickly when I found Capitol Armory. |

I've checked their website good prices, and the payment plan while waiting for approval is a great idea to get more people buying their toys. |

That's pretty common, Texas Tactical Gear does that as well, it's not like you're going to take it home without waiting the 4-5 months for a form 4 to be approved so it acts like a layaway. |

Why wait for the dealer to dealer transfer (using SS) when I could just buy from CA direct. SS model works well for people outside of TX. Not so much for people in TX :( |

That's the other part, their prices went up on about half their inventory.... No they didn't. Silencer Shop "Powered By" dealers set their own prices.....not Silencer Shop. If you type in your zip code you'll see different prices from participating dealers. If the price is higher than you think it should be just choose another dealer. |

the major manufacturers are dropping SS as an authorized retailer left and right.
Liberty Dead Air AAC and now rumors of SilencerCo, SS denied it, but sources at SiCo confirmed it so who knows. I bet this decision of trying to become a distributor wasn't such a good idea, but we will see. |

I got my KAC NT4 can direct from him for $1250 while everyone else was selling for $1400+. He later went to wholesale/dealer sale only. |

Haven't heard that one. someone posted about it in the thread in the suppressor sub forum. I looked for it, but the whole thread got nuked. |

Here's the thing, since SS is not going to be a retailer and is going to be a distributor instead, then of course this would happen. They would drop SS as a retailer and add them as a distributor. |

I pointed this out in another thread, there is a lot of smoke and mirrors but in the end they are not a distributor, they are still a retailer. Quoted:

I managed to get my order in before SS went to the current business model. I can see why they don't really want a store front anymore because when I went to get my omega, it was just short of chaos. People who have never been there before stood around not knowing what to really do as far as giving them your id/chl and going and filling out the 4473. Three people trying to do orders while a couple guys running back an forth with suppressors. Took me over an hour and a half to get in and out. |

Remember Silenced America? Same problems. |

Ask the average (NON- FFL) user here to name 5 major firearms wholesalers and they can't. It's because they don't market to consumers. It's not uncommon to never have heard of a middleman. |
