was wondering if anybody new the laws regarding having witnesses when you get a trust notarized. are they required? or just recommended? if it is required, is there a certain number of witnesses?

Witnesses besides the notary and the trustees?  I didn't even have a spot for witnesses.

I signed, wife signed, notary signed/stamped, done.

ETA:  Texas Property Code 112.001, there is no mention of even having it notarized, let alone witnesses.

yeah, sometimes/in some states there has to be a "3rd party witness" i guess you could call them.

i looked through this and couldnt find any requirement for notary or witnesses though.

Not required for Texas.

Seems redundant.  Whole point of getting it notarized is they are acting as a witness verifying you are the person who signed the document in front of them.

Hmmm.... now that you mention it, haven't seen him around in awhile. Maybe he's in Witness Protection?

I took mine to the UPS store and had it signed by the notary and 2 witnesses...I thought I was required to do it since those were the instructions from the lawyer...it was only $18.

Disclaimer: IANAL

Doesn't hurt to have them, even if they're not required.

I had my trust written by Chris Bass within the last 2 months, and no witnesses or trustees were required to sign.  The only signatures were the notary's and mine.
