Wow,

I can't even remember when we have had this kind of rein like we are having here now.
Been raining about two days ( since Friday Afternoon ) off and on, and solid since last night.

Was raining hard here all morning (Burnet) and finally stopped.  But only showing 3/4inch in the rain guage, seemed like more than that.

I know north west Texas has been getting hammered which is great!  Austin had a good solid down pour on Friday, with more expected today hopefully through Wednesday.  We really need an El Niño to form!

I'm in San Angelo temporarily. Ya'll needed this in a bad way. I've been to Lake Nasworthy twice today and it has shown great improvement both times. Drag boat races may run this year

They rescheduled them for Sept. I think.
If we get another good rain or two before then they go as scheduled.

Only 2-3 boat ramps open on Nasworthy right now.
Our water situation is dire right now.

Just keeping our fingers crossed.

About 2-1/2" in the last two days here in South Lubbock County.  Pretty slow overall so I think most of it had time to sink in.  More supposed to come tonight and tomorrow.

Well, we are now getting rain, plus hail and tornado warnings.

Family hit the storm cellar earlier just in case. Had to get our free loaders in also.

Want the rain just not the bad stuff.

Crossing our fingers for a uneventful night with just rain.

Glad everyone is safe.

In my job, we look at long term weather.  This year is to be a super el-nino.

Which should mean a lot of water this year.  And a lot of heat next year.

Some folks who do look at this stuff are holding off on calling it a super el-nino, because of the impact to food prices and the markets that will have (prices go way up)

We'll see, but lets hope we can get all the ponds back to full.

Maybe folks can stop drinking brown water...

Dallas lost out on the rain. Weathermen predicted mass rain and flooding. Nope. You could have stayed outside all weekend here and as long as you were sitting under a good size tree, not even gotten yourself wet. Sure it rained a touch but not even enough to settle the dust or get the trees wet underneath.

In order to salvage their forecast, they are now predicting a massive hail storm event for the afternoon.

Who's predicting hail?

I spent Saturday at Polkafest and the rest of the day BBQ'ing. I goofed off Sunday and worked on getting the ham radio installed in my wife's car yesterday till about 4pm. Then a light shower popped up and I figured I could mow the front yard real quick.  0.25" in 30 minutes. I got it cut but I was soaked. 2 hours later the sun came back out.

It did rain overnight, but I forgot to check the gauge this morning.

You can whitewater if you have a kayak.

It's nice for a change.
I'll be in the creek fixing water gaps though.

It crosses twice on the other end. I went and checked the first one later in the afternoon. I think it was low enough but the water was fairly fast and a tree had washed up to the very edge of the little "bridge" making it a very tight fit with risk of going off into the creek. The second crossing that way is probably the most perilous one of the three.

This year has been 'different' from the three previous ones.  My garden is 45 days behind schedule.  Spring was Cold and Dry, followed by Hot and Dry, then Wet and Cold.

Only .19 inches of rain in Canton from this 'storm system' that floated overhead.    Last rain was a flood three weeks ago.

I've had three basic weather patterns that are making it hard to get the garden to grow.  It's been either so dry that nothing would sprout, or so wet that the seeds rotted.  The third scenario has been cold overnight temps that lead to stunting of heat loving crops.

It's not a good year for grass either.  Talked to my dad about hay producers (he cuts his own for cattle and horses).  Apparently, a lot of producers are simply not able to cut grass this year.  The weather patterns have stressed the grasses too much.

Too dry and cold ... no grass
Too hot and dry ... no grass
Too wet and overnights in the 40s ... no grass.
