Does anyone  live in the Waco/China Spring area? I've met one person on here so far from Waco, but I don't know anyone else in the area.  I will be starting my new job in June, and all my family and friends live in Houston.

I will be living in China Spring. China Spring seems to have a lot of open farming land in the area. I  am planning on buying a PVS-14 once I save up some money. It would be nice to find someone to go on some night vision hog hunts.

Anyways, I am  just looking to see how many of you on here live in the area.

Just south on I-35 in Temple.

Don't own any hog hunting land so I can't help you on that one.

Haha that's alright. I don't expect to find any hog hunting land, maybe just someone to hit the range with. Would be nice to get a PM to go on a night excursion though

I was born and raised in Waco. China Spring / Bosqueville / Speegleville.. Nice quiet area.

Get moved in and ask around, I'm sure you won't have trouble finding a place to shoot hogs. Stop in at the feed stores, introduce yourself, buy something, and ask around.

Don't expect much in the way of things to do entertainment-wise around Waco, other than what you can make for yourself.

If you like chicken fried steak, George's makes one of the best you'll ever have. And have a Big O or two...

You can thank me later.

Get two PVS-14s and I bet you will not have any problems finding a place to hog hunt.....

I have some family land between Temple and Waco.   No hogs (fingers crossed. I've only had one on camera the last three years), but I definitely have coons that need killing.

Haha I bet I wouldn't have a problem either. I will be lucky to get the funds for one PVS.

I was hoping to get a set before I head up to Rocksprings, TX for next deer season. It would be a blast to take a look around at night with the amount of wildlife out there. Just to clarify the night vision would be for hogs/exotics only.

Thanks.Ill be working in the same area of TSTC. I got excited when I saw TSTC on google maps because it said "TSTC golf facility" but then realized it is where they learn about turf grasses, not a golf training facility. I took a turf grass class in college. Pretty cool stuff.

Awesome, I will find out this weekend if I will be living at the place I applied for in China Spring. It is not to far into China Spring in a place called Cougar Ridge by the airport. We've always had coyotes around my parents place, but I've been waiting to get some NV before trying to bring any up.

I am very close to applying for my own quiet toys. I will have to try yours first to decide if I want to

I have a friend that is very close to getting his stamps in, but it looks like I will be gone before then.

You should look up the Central Texas Rifle & Pistol Club .They are located in china springs.

I shot a steel challenge match there a few years ago and they were a good group of guys with a nice range.

I was born and raised in Waco, Texas and just recently moved to Houston. I go shoot out on my friends land near Mart off of Highway 6. There's not many shooting ranges for rifles & pistols in the area except the private Central Texas Gun Club and one out in Valley Mills (the city not the street). As for hog hunting, once again I use my friend's land to go hunting on, but sometimes it can be hit or miss. Just try to get in good with some locals and hope for the best. Oh and good luck trying to find a lot ammo... In Houston I find ammo all the time at Walmart, but in Waco, u better line up in the morning at Academy off New Road and Franklin on Tuesday and Saturday mornings to make sure you get at least something (and bring multiple people bc they only allow 1 caliber per person up to 3 calibers) or ask other people in line to get your caliber and switch & pay in the parking lot.

For BBQ in Waco City Limits, Uncle Dans's (Off LAke Air not Hewitt Dr) is pretty good. Texas Taters or their Top Cut sliced brisket is legit. Also their cole slaw is the best). Michna's BBQ off Franklin has an all you can eat buffet if you want to gourge on some good bbq.

Is Vitek's still there in Waco? east side of 35? Man, I loved that Czech bbq growing up! I'm pretty sure there's still one in Belton, run by one of Vitek's sons.

Haven't thought of that place in years, just wondering if it's still going?

Thanks a lot. I should be good on ammo. i just recently got into reloading to avoid lining up at academy in the mornings. I will definitely check out the BBQ places.

Thanks for the info!

Yup, they are still there and have renovated into a full restaurant. Gut paks still the best there.

You get the NVGs and you shoot me a PM.

I've got access to family land that had hogs on it.  I need to get up there soon and take a look, just been too busy with some stuff around the house.

Vitek's has the best BBQ in town and they have a drive in on Franklin Ave. The range (Chandler's) by Valley Mills is closed right now, supposely they are having problems with some new people that bought land by them.
