In light of recent events I feel I need to make a public statement of my views on this subject.

As the Sheriff of Collin County, Texas, I have for the past 28 years served to protect and keep safe all citizens of our county, recognizing the trust placed in me with this profoundly important responsibility.

Unfortunately, the recent surge in the numbers of innocent victims who have died at the hands of unstable criminals has prompted politicians in Washington to seek to pass laws that would seriously erode the constitutional rights of innocent and law abiding citizens.

Neither I, nor any of my deputies, will participate in the enforcement of laws that violate our precious constitutional rights, including our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

As long as I remain Sheriff of Collin County, I will not participate in the actions of misguided politicians who seek to impede our citizen’s right to all of the privileges afforded by our Constitution.

Respectfully,

Terry G. Box
Sheriff, Collin County Texas

PERSEC fail - big time.

I can't believe you're the Sheriff of Collin County! That is awesome.

More importantly, thank you for standing up for the 2nd amendment rights of the citizens under your jurisdiction. That is even more awesome.

But Sheriff Box still will not sign a Form 1 or Form 4.

FYI, CnL is not Sheriff Box....unless I have my peepz way confused.  CnL is much taller, more handsome, has greater common sense and situational awareness, lives in a different county, and often has a giant smoker in tow.

I was wondering what Collin County officials thought about this. After what that crazy person did to the McKinney Police HQ in 2010 with an EBR.

CNL is not the Sheriff of Collin Co. He would probably want to be though.

Thanks for the info CNL, I was actually kinda curious where Sheriff Box would come down on this issue.

Sheriff Box does sign form's.  He has signed several for me over the years.  I guess it helps that i have lived in collin county for all of my life and my dad is a very close friend of his.  I also went to school with his kids.

Unless he names what it is he is not going to do, it is just flagrant pandering. Wonder how many will fall for it?

Don't be mistaken, this is just pandering.  They will enforce whatever laws the federal government puts forth.

Oh, you mean Davy Crockett or whatever his name is. After he proclaimed himself Sheriff after winning the Republican primary some forum member asked him about his position:

he doesnt make a habit of signing off but he has on numerous occassions, he does meet with the applicant to get a feel for the peson and doesnt just sign off blind

Sheriff Box will sign. He simply requests that some LE vouches for the person. Right, wrong or misguided, those are his requirements. I'm sure most everyone knows a cop or constable or some LE.

Liked how Sheriff Box pretty much stated that if they wanted to reinstate the AWB so be it, but he's not for confiscation.

So, just bans in general he's for?
