Gentlemen,
A month ago in Pasadena, I bought a Ruger Mark III 22/45 and had my background check go to the second level, whatever that means. this was the first time I have had this happen. Last week I bought a CZ P01 at the Conroe show and the same thing. Today I tried to buy a Cetme and my check was delayed. I was told if it was not denied, I could pick up the gun after the three day waiting period at their store. The only issue that I have with that is that I am in Spring and they are in League City, which is about 1 1/4 hour drive. My only question is, without criticizing my choice of firearms too much, is what would cause this delay. Is it possibly the volume because of the upcoming election? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Where have you lived since turning 18, any scrapes with the law?
If you live in Kommiefornia any length of time it goes to tier 2 and tier checks with Kommiefornia DOJ. During the week this takes maybe 10 minutes or so but Kommiefornia DOJ only has a skelton staff on Saturdays and no staff on Sunday. Get your CHL it stops all the B.S. |
| I was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Arizona when I was 31. I am 59 and moved to Texas last year in December. I had a speeding ticket in Tom Green county just after Christmas last year. I agree about the CHL. I have one from AZ and just did not get around to getting my Texas one yet but I guess that is what I need to do. |

Someone else with similar name as yours, but with some shady background, maybe? I doubt that. There are only about 300 people in the US with my last name. But I guess that it is a possibility. I guess that I should have mentioned that I bought an AR in January of this year and there was no issue them. |

No, that was when I lived in Arizona. |

Thank you in advance. <––––––-FFL When a dealer calls in a NICS check the customer service rep will ask for certain information from your 4473. If the check returns multiple records with your name or potentially disqualifying information the CSR will forward the call to an FBI Legal Documents Examiner for "further review". The examiner is authorized to compare records and determine if they apply to you. Typically, the review is completed within a minute or two, but if additional databases need to be checked then the FBI has three business days (beginning the next business day) to prohibit your transaction. The NICS Examiner will give the dealer a date that he is allowed (but not required) to transfer you the firearm. A couple of weeks ago, the FBI notified dealers that due to the high call volume on Saturdays, that NICS would not process status checks on delayed transactions on a Saturday. |

That's completely false. But thanks for sharing.

If you have a CHL you skip the background check at the time of sale. You should clarify which part of his statement you think is false. Your statement makes it seem like you think his whole paragraph is false. I do not know the validity of the California statement. |

Hey Reuben (spelling?), he is just trolling....it might be a fake account but he was stirring up trouble in a few other threads with similar quality posts...just ignore him . You are right though and so was the poster that suggested to get the CHL.

Just a thought....I have a few guys that buy/transfer through me that ALWAYS get a delay or at least 2nd level. It is usually applied to "common" names, such as "John Smith" "Doug Murphy" etc. As long as you get an ok, don't worry so much. I was always held up for years. There are four other people with my exact name in the US. One is a BP agent in Brownsville, one is a retired DEC guy in New Hampshire, and one was in jail for multiple homicides with a ball peen hammer in the 1970s. None of us are related. My last check went right through and I was puzzled because it never, ever did. Turns out the guy in jail died last year. |
