You burn some Mesquite, and when the coals get hot
You bunk up some meat, and you throw it on a pot With some chile pods and garlic and comino and stuff Then you add a little salt til theres just enough You can throw in some onions to make it smell good You can even add tomatoes if you feel like you should But if you know beans about Chili, You know Chili has no beans If you know beans about chili, you know it didn’t come from Mexico Chili was God’s gift to Texas or maybe it came from down below And Chili doesn’t go with macaroni and damned Yankees don’t go with chili queens And if you know beans about Chili, You know Chili has no beans

This thread made me crave chili last night. Couldn't balance that well and fell down in the kitchen but I had to have my chili fix and pulled back up to make it. Now I get to add pulled back to my list of injuries but at least I had chili for dinner.
No beans here. |

OK
You can have beans, You can have chili, You can even have beans with your chili, But chili does not have beans. ETA: I also believe the rules have been in place for a while: International Chili Society Traditional Red Chili is defined by the International Chili Society as any kind of meat or combination of meats, cooked with red chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients, with the exception of BEANS and PASTA which are strictly forbidden. |

No beans it is. |

No sir, it most certainly does NOT. That would be some kinda yankee-fied chili you speak of. He's probably from Oklahoma. The addition tomatoes leads me to think he's from the Commonwealth of Virginia or even further north. Really people? It does NOT have beans OR tomatoes(and/or any tomato-based products)... |
