That 165gr SST that you loaded did the trick. I'll do more testing this evening.
The "Precious" got it's first kill.

specs on rifle?

It's just a 700 AAC in a B&C stock with 10x 3200 Elite glass built by Danger6 Consulting (me). Still needs a trigger job, better glass and it wouldn't hurt to bed the base though it was pretty level to begin with.

I'm outshooting the rifle at this point, hopefully a better trigger and glass will help. It's still MOA wich isn't bad but I'd like better. I shoot Mojo's rifles much better but they cost twice as much as mine.

.308?

how fast are they going? I've loaded 178 amax almost exclusively in my savage (did pretty darn good at TV except being a little slow with my load) but want to work up a 150 or higher sst load.

Good to hear the sst is accurate, the only thing I currently load them in is 7.62x39 and my AKs aren't the best judge of accuracy for a bullet

Yep 308. I haven't chrono'd it yet but going off my balistic program and comes up's im around 2400-2700 depending on load. It's just a rough gestimate at this point. I don't load so I don't really get too involved in it. I just shoot and record what I need to dial. I'll try to push the distance this week as they are hitting the freshly cut wheat fields. I have a 600yd shot across one field and close to 1k on another. I have more data on 175gr SMK's at this point but I'll give Mojo's load a go. It moves a bit faster than the 175gr or 168gr SMK as I over dialed lastnight and missed one at about 300, the shot went high.

I really had him load these for deer but I like to test new hunting rounds on hogs first.

Conected a few more times tonight. This one was 220yds with one of Mojo's rounds. It really tore this guys neck up! I hit a few more from 180-550yds but with 175gr SMK's, not really the best choice but neck and head shots will do the job. I'll have to track them in the morning. I'm too lazy for night time tracking jobs on hogs.

props to the Taco as I was set up on the roof.

We could always use some help. All the rain from DFW hit us this morning and now the fields are undrivable, so no more field hunting this week for me.

I like the 2nd gen Tacomas much better than all the others. I got the base model since I'm going to upgrade the suspension, bumpers, etc.

Really? Mojo is cool.....for a half mes'can.....

Mojo, I'm sorry, I was channeling early 2000's when we went to the Holy Altar of "The Hun Farm"....

Cheers all!

Hard to find bullets that pass through...and I'm not skinning tick covered hogs. Buzzards gotta eat too.

Lifted 1.75 to start, but I'm not going crazy just yet. After I've had it a few years then I'll start doing more. Getting new tires next week. I'm heading home tomorrow and won't be back for a couple of weeks so that will give you time to get Mojo on board.

If you are ever bored again let me know so I can have you load some ammo for me.

I'll supply brass, primers, bullets and powder and you supply labor and knowledge.

Nice shootin C.  My brother and I are still kicking around the idea of building a longer range rifle.  Too many AR projects going right now though (SBR).

Good to hear the hogs are back....kinda.  I know they are a PITA for you guys.  Get any fish wash in or is it still gar city in there?

The hogs are good because they give me live moving targets to unleash my hate upon.

I've fished a few times with no luck, but I don't really go at the best times since the best fishing times are often the best hunting times.

I'm just an average reloader at best.  Don't want to blow up any of you guys' rifles.
Clharr, he doesn't care about his rifle blowing up.

Most likely no....I have two bolts, one GAP AR10, one OBR 7.62...These are enough for long range.  Enough to occupy me for yrs since I don't do competition like some of the guys here.
