Any recommendations for somebody in the DFW area to fab a metal frame and set steel posts for a sliding gate (I'll install the boards)? Also, curious about cost - 12' gate with a guide posts?

contact Mike at RollingGate.net for a free estimate. He just did ours back in May. Set the steel posts, fabricated a 8' high x 16' gate, installed the motor and attached/stained the cedar boards. I could have saved money by doing my own boards or even going out there and helping him. He's very friendly and will gladly let you help as a learning experience.
Took about a week to get my HOA approval and the city permit (electrical and building I think). Once we had all our ducks in a row installation was a two day job... He has pics of his other jobs but if you want to see how mine turned out shoot me an email/pm. I had one other estimate that came in a little bit lower than his by $200 and he matched it... I felt comfortable with his motorized gate building experience vs the other company that focused primarily on fences. *edit* mine is 4th from the bottom on his pics page ... solid construction/welds and design.. have not had any issues .. absolutely love it -jake |

I have a side driveway that goes to the back of my property and wanted to have the sliding gate (vs. swinging gate that has potential to sag) go across the 12 ft driveway. I will need to cut a patch for the track and was thinking I could do this in stages to save money - have a professional fabricate the metal & set the posts which I can then install wood & motor at a later time. |
