The wife and kids are traveling to Huntsville in October and I need to know a decent hotel in the area. Someplace where it's safe is the most important.

There is a few right off of Hwy 30 and I-45 that's pretty populated. Plus its right around everything. Just keep in mind its a college town so it may get rowdy some. Conroe is about 20 minutes south and is a good place to stay also.

I just stayed at the Holiday inn express its on the east side of IH-45 close to the middle of town. It is new, you must enter rooms from lobby (bettter for security). Nice clean rooms. Good help. Also they didnt have prices on the snack items so they just gave them to me...

I had no noise problems and most guests seemed to be military.

Avoid the La Quinta if you can-it is very outdated and some of the rooms are blocked out because they are UNinhabitable. I recommend the Holiday Inn Express also.

Must be bad if they only rent out the rooms that are uninhabitable!
