Anyone else having a bad problem with cicada killer's this year? I mow my parents lawn in Irving, the same house I grew up in, and the backyard is invested with them. They dig up these mounts of dirt all over the place. I have never seem them there in my life. I have done some research and they prefer dry conditions, however, my parents backyard is watered everyday and is a very healthy lawn! This things are freaking HUGE!

Its their time to shine since their prey is at peak, if I'm correct. They're scary critters, glad they don't nest like yellow jackets!!!!
I have not had one show any hostile action towards me. Of course I give them a wide berth.
I suspect they will be around till  their prey fades or the cold weather arrives. Next year we may not see any. YMMV

Same here.  It's relaxing.  The sound lets me know I'm 'home'.

I'm new to Texas and these things are really big to me. There's one or two that come around during the course of the day.
But they seem to have a set flight pattern checking things out. None have been aggressive and like above, I give them plenty of room.

Listening to two or three of them singing can make you glad you live in Texas.

Listening to two or three hundred of them singing can make you wish you lived in Siberia.
