I'm an active duty guy looking for some help. I'm trying to find a point of contact with someone in the head shed for the 36th ID. In 2006 I found myself on FOB Caldwell in Diyala Province, Iraq. While there, a set of tent style barracks were set up and one had a wood carving with the 36th ID patch and a plank of wood that said "The Alamo". When I heard that the wood, bunks, and lockers were going to be given to the Iraqis before the tents were torn down I went and took the carving off the door it was on.
I've had it for years now. I've tried unsuccessfully to give it to several members of the 36th I've run into over the past few years but it always fell through. I'm traveling to San Antonio for a training exercise soon and would like to bring this with me to give to someone who can put it in the division's headquarters in Austin where it belongs. If you can help or know someone who can, please DM me. |
