thoes are national guard weapons, M4's.We were unable to get a good cause form the unit for the damage.

How about some pics of the serial numbers since they are government owned rifles.  The serail # range would give some insight into when these rifles were made.  Maybe there was a bad run of lowers during the timeframe these rifles were made.

That may be true but it is not impervious to the loving care of the US soldier
