I didn't like it, and I'm a Shiner fan. The grapefruit isn't bad, but the end of the taste (the ginger part) is gross. I can't stand it. Its worse than cheer. They need to bring back the Dunkelveissen. How can you NOT like the Cheer! I love it, and still have a few bottles saved up in the fridge! Different stroke for different folks I guess. At first I didn't like the grapefruit, but I started liking it the hotter it gets outside. |

I don't mind flavored ales, but some of the more recent Shiner ones have felt forced. I prefer something like a good ol' fashioned citrus heff, nut ale, honey ale, whatever. I think that a grapefruit heff would have been an awesome seasonal choice for Shiner.

I tried some today. Its not terrible, but its not the best beer I've had. The taste reminds of of when I go out to eat sushi, because that is the only time I really eat ginger.
I'm going to mix some up with some rum later and make a dark and stormy and see how that tastes. I had a few of those in when I was visiting a friend in Charleston. |
