Check for local meetups on meetup.com. I know there are a few groups in San Antonio that offer classes through meetup.

Give Bruce a call.  He's an instructor in land navigation and rescue and teaches Parks and wild life as well as Corps of Engineers

Go up to Honey Grove. Caddo national grasslands, it is big enough to get lost but not big enough to be hopelessly lost.

Get a topo map off the Internet and a compas. Then track yourself on the trails until you feel good enough to go off the trails. Bring mosquito repelent and a handgun.
