| I don't know much about influencing bills so I want to ask what can be done to help HB 2756 move along? What can little old me do? |
|
It's currently Left pending in subcommittee. If it had enough votes to pass out of comity they'd have most likely voted for it right after testimony. Here is the video, as I can't fast forward I'm going through it now. Should be in the Homeland Security & Public Safety Comity. http://www.house.state.tx.us/video-audio/committee-broadcasts/recent-broadcast/ |
|
Happens to be first on the agenda here. Even skipped some. Starts out very very quiet. then gets louder. http://www.house.state.tx.us/fx/av/committee82/11042111420.ram |

I just want to drop leg. I'm tired of hiding this Beretta. And the x300 just makes it bigger. "drop leg"? You would carry in a drop leg holster? on both sides! Just messing w/ you OP. If you've never used a drop leg holster you may realize you soon tire of it. You'll probably also be hassled much less w/ a quality leather or duty style holster (don't expect LEO and sheeple mindset to change overnight if this ever passes.) I think it would be challenging for quite some time to OC escpecially if it was only authorized for CHL holders. |

Nope, we'll be damn lucky if we get the parking lot and campus carry bills through. And that is with a two-thirds Republican majority in the House and a Rep. Governor who likes to shoot at Larue's. Damn shine we have so many RINO's. ![]() I'm a campus cop and I don't like the idea of students carrying on campus. Neither do my fellow coworkers. Imagine the trouble that would cause. Ex: student gets drunk or their buddy does and oh look, lets play with the gun. They can be dumn enough as it is. No thanks. Not to mention the drugs. |

How about the staff with CHL? How about the janitor with CHL that rides the bus to work? What about their rights? Do you really think that a 21 year old (of which almost none live on campus, thus they can already have a gun at their house/apt) are going to have illegal drugs and then play with guns while drunk? What about the 30 year old student that has multiple tours of combat duty in the sandbox? Is he or she not to be trusted? Do these CHL holders do all these dumb things off campus now and get arrested? I'm not trying to pick a fight (really!) and I understand you probably meet some real dumb sleazeballs...But we don't remove things that are human rights just because a few people in society can't handle it. |

The group supporting open carry this time around hasn't done their homework on writing the bill. If it was to pass as written, it will probably lead to a dramatic increase of 30.06 postings that apply to both open and concealed carry, which will result in fewer legal places to carry.
Note that I'm not opposed to open carry (I really don't care, I'll always CC, don't really care what others do, doesn't matter to me). I do care however that the bill is written to minimize the number of 30.06 postings that will result. |

Please tell me you realize that only those with a CHL would be the ones carrying? I'm so tired of running into people who think campus carry would entitle everyone to carry. Living in a college town, I could easily say that there's a few I wouldn't trust with a firearm, but then again those few wouldn't be 3 sheets to the wind during a class lecture. We trust these same "kids" (Of whom are over the age of 21) to carry responsibly off campus during their everyday life, why do people think they'd become instantly belligerent on a school campus? It just can't be stressed enough that the "Dumbasses" and violent people, will carry a firearm and shoot somebody with or without legal authority to have a gun on campus anyways. A campus cop or even a city cop has just as much risk of "snapping" and shooting people as any law abiding citizen, but I'm not going to be paranoid that an officer will come on duty after having a blow out at home and needs somebody to take it out on. |

I would suggest arresting them and charging w/ UCW by a CHL holder. How many 21 year olds do you know who actually have CHLs? I'm around 30 and carry a weapon because I am the provider and protector of my wife and infant son. I work 60 hrs a week (well sometimes only 55 if I get lucky) and take classes part time. I would love to be able to actually take some classes at the campus and use their library instead of having to take them online at the house and use the city library. I bet you and your coworkers would shit a brick if you knew I already carry on campus on the rare occassion I have to go up there. (pre-1899 revolver, not a firearm under Texas and Federal law.) eta: maybe we should ban all firearms everywhere. I saw an old guy a couple weeks ago at the lake who was hammered. What if he had been armed? I don't want anyone having the ability to make poor choices or be dangerous if it could affect me. Cars should be outlawed too because a college student might get drunk and say "lets go haul ass!" We can all just take the bus (and the bus drivers will have the breathalyzer things installed.)

Hmmm....I didn't realize the 2nd Amendment didn't apply to citizens who go to college or have to work there. Really bad for Suzy who gets raped on the way back to her apartment because she couldn't carry her gun with her while in class. But at least you and your coworkers will feel safe.

Drop legs are mush less secure than a good holster on your waist. There is a reason you only see drop legs on military and police who are wearing body armor that makes waist holsters problematic. Why does everyone want to look they they belong in the streets of Iraq |

You forgot to mention the "pants with pockets on the side". Why do doctors wear lab coats, and scrubs? Why do firemen wear all that heavy bunker gear? Maybe because that particular type clothing and accessories are appropriate for the jobs they are tasked with performing? |

I don't want to look like I'm in Iraq. I just want the power, capacity, and controllability of a full size handgun with a light, without the giant ass bulk inside my waistband making my already fat ass even fatter. I don't think anyone is trying to change your mind, but you can have all those things w/out a drop leg. |

HB2756 is simply a bill that removes the concealment requirement.
This is the Lone Star Citizens Defense Leagues bill. People keep throwing all kinds of invalid information around about it but the fact is, the bill is still active. If you want the facts instead of rumors, visit lonestarcdl.org |
