A friend of mine bought some pecan shells for smoking meat from a pecan sheller
out of San Antonio.  I have more than I need.  Does anyone near me want to come
and get some?  I will take the first 1-2 people that want it.  It's a couple of gallons
worth.

I think I paid about $35/yard to mulch around my trees. The birds and squirrels love them, they pick out what the machines left.

We bought two 55 gallon drums worth for $10 bucks each.
They are great for smoking brisket if you like the pecan flavor.

I have never heard of using them in a smoker. Is it the same as using pecan wood? I just bought a yard last month and put them in the flower bed.

be careful of how much you use and make sure they are well soaked. I used a good double handful last year while smoking some chickens and the shells burned too hot and made a black soot that ruined the meat.

I watched the man vs. food episode where they did Salt Lick BBQ out of Austin.
They use live oak wood and soaked pecan shells for their brisket and ribs.
This is my first time using it.  Doing a beer butt chicken this weekend.
