Does anyone have any east Texas land for sale or know of any land for sale in east Texas or the piney woods? I am looking for 20 plus acres and the more remote the better.

As mentioned, East Texas defines a lot of space. Pick an area that works for you, then do some on-line searching to find a local Realtor that lists lots of rural property in the area. Contact Them!!! It cost you nothing, the seller is paying! (Do not bother with the big "Texas Ranches" and similar sites)
Lots of properly for sale right now...homes are not the only thing being foreclosed on, or being sold cheap to prevent foreclosure. The Realtors are hungry and will do a lot of ground work for you. The will also have listing that have not been posted on web sites or have been around so long, they have been dropped. |
| Smith country Tx I know of 15 acres that is about as remote as you can get while still being close enough to civilization to be a normal human. 5 miles outside of a town of 400 with a grocery store and couple of gas stations and 20 miles from Tyler which is just over 100k people but seriously in the middle of nowhere. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the owners cell number. It's got a few hundred yards of frontage and then off into the woods. Pole and meter already on land but nothing else. |

Just an FYI -
Did some camping near Alba (approx 1/2 way between Greenville & Tyler) just off FM 17 a couple of years ago. Heard nothing but trucks all night long. My back yard is not as noisy. Was very beautiful country, and didn't notice the noise during the day.
ETA: Did hear lots of coyotes too. |

Try 'LandsofTexas.com. Put in the county you are looking for and what type if property. I too am looking for a few acres to retire on. Lands of Texas is a good place to get an idea about what is available in an a an area, but my experience with them is that most of the properties seem to be listed by people not in a hurry to sell. I did much better with local Realtors. |

Something you might consider.
I'm a land surveying contractor for a large oil and gas company. All major operations are moving to west of San Antonio. You would have to have mineral rights for it to be worthwhile but I've seen families go from middle class land owners to driving new pickups and building 3500 sq. ft. houses with ridiculous swimming pools. |
