My wife has talked about getting her CHL and someone at work is getting a class together locally for Utah CHLs.  I was considering taking the class too because my wife doesn't want to go by herself.  I don't have a Texas CHL.  The Texas and Utah CHL classes are both the same cost but the Utah license fee is about $67 and the renewal fee is $40.

Any drawbacks to the Utah CHL?  Anyone have any issues come up from presenting the Utah CHL and Texas DL to local LEOs?  Thanks in advance for any advice or info!

You will not learn Texas laws about where you can and cannot carry, what your requirements are in regards to LE, and Texas Use of Force laws.

Unless you have a delinquincy on your property or other state taxes or child support you should get the Texas CHL.

You won't be able to skip the background check when buying a gun. Texas one will.
