| I was at a local range zeroing a new US Optics scope that I just got in. I know, I have my own range, but I was like a little kid with a new toy, I just had to shoot it. Spent about an hour enjoying the system and decided I might as well do some handgun drills while I was there. It was pretty busy, being deer season and all, even the pistol range was busy. By the time I laid out my gear and set a target, things started to thin out. I had a guy on my right who was shooting XD's and two older guys on my left who were taking CHL stuff and shooting. I practiced the stuff that kills me and packed my gear up. As I was walking by the older of the two guys I noticed the weapon he was shooting was high in the web of his hand. I kind of chuckled to myself as I walked by just as I noticed something wasn't right with him and his weapon. Just as I observed this he turned the weapon on the 180 and discharged the weapon to his left. Luckily no one was to his left. My ass puckered. Note to self, wear vest while shooting with the general public. To the well trained: Watch You Ass around those who because they have taken a CHL class think they know what end of the weapon the bullet come out. No point mentioning the range name, it could have been any. |

No point mentioning the range name, it could have been any. whew!! too close! thus the reason I signed up with a lease on a pvt piece of property & I go shoot @ my own pace w/ NO ONE else around...other than the ones I bring with me! public ranges are scary! |

I was the only student in the history of the Monroe County, New York that was allowed to take two English classes at the same time because I had flunked them so many times. While everyone else was in class I was riding a Shovel Head and working full time at a die cutting plant. Don't worry, I will never challenge any of you guys to a game of Scrabble, I know my limitations.
My best friend at the time is now the president of the New York chapter of the Hell Angels, I'm not much on writing, but hell with a bike or gun... |

Don't I know it... While doing the shooting part of my CHL class, the guy next to me had a jam of some sort in his .45, he turned it directly at me while he was standing only about 3 feet away and began trying to clear the weapon... muzzle pointing right into my lower abdomen. I backed out of the way swiftly with a WTF look and a Hey! Hey! Hey! point it down range... I was pumped full of adrenaline after surviving my CHL class, felt good to be alive. There are other events as well, but that one the most horrifying. |
