Man I'm excited. We haven't had one in Austin in a while.
Hoping the wife waits till Monday to go into labor so I can go ;) |

I had imagined that they would have the gun show in the exhibition hall but they had it down on the arena floor. Crappy greenish lighting from high in the arena ceiling. You don't have to worry about getting stuck behind fat old guys in scooters because they can't get down there. I don't know what the table count is compared to the old Crocket Center but it sure seems less.
There were a few tables up on the entrance level but not many. Not much room for expansion at all. The food was a lot crappier and more expensive than at the old place. There was some horse stuff going on at the exhibition hall, maybe future shows can move over there. I go to gun shows for the entertainment of paying 5 bucks and looking at stuff. If I find a good deal, I'll pick up a pistol or two. Unless this show moves out of the arena, I don't think I'll go back. And 2 bucks to park in a lot that my county taxes paid for years ago? WTF? I need to check out the San Antonio show sometime. Gringop |

Gringop There were some people missing, but I believe most of the usual vendors were there. If you are handicapped, you are screwed. Food I think was better than the old location. Burger and Fries were good. There is room to expand. Eliminate the non-gun vendors and squeeze them in a bit. |

You had to pay for parking? I just drove through... did i get away with something? (for once in my life, haha) They were charging $2 to park earlier in the day. It was for the Smithville PD fund? I met Jester, Wally, and a few others from ARFCOM! A bunch of people on my forum as well ... it was a good show I thought. |

Yes the elevator hid in the back and so small that if you had a mobility scooter you were screwed. My mother likes going to the saxet shows but because of the small elevator she could not get to the floor and before anyone complains about scooters , just let me beat on your knees with a bat for a few hours and see how you then appreciate the mobility scooter. Fair show but they will have to improve handicapped access before the ADA people get on them. |

That's why they were higher than normal. They weren't even my Mosin's to sell, LOL. I was just there to promote the forum. |

Doesn't sound like anyone was getting screwed. |

Food reviews at a gun show? Lol Sorry I had to. I never knew people actually ate at these shows. Don't they even send someone out who takes all the vendors' orders and go buy them food else where than the concession stand?A smart person with a BBQ trailer and could cook can make a killing at these shows just by serving good food at a reasonable price. I can see the menu and pricing now- Chopped BBQ Beef sandwinch- Acog scope Fries- case of 5.56 BBQ beef plate 2 sides- piston upper in 6.8 or 5.56 Family BBQ meal - LaRue custom piston rifle in 5.56 or 6.8

You tried talking me into buying a 129 dollar mosin. ![]() It's a .30 caliber, bolt-action battle rifle that has almost 120 years of proven service, killing many, many folks and critters on almost every continent. The ammo for it is readily available at costs as low as $0.25 a round / 20-round package, and cheaper when you buy in bulk. Even at $129, it's a hell of a bargain. Find another rifle of similiar caliber and durability for a price remotely a similiar price and I'll be amazed. Of course, if $129 is too much, you can get a C&R FFL and order them for $70 plus shipping. Not to mention the added benefits of getting discounts at Brownell's and MidwayUSA. |
