Just an FYI, Bass Pro had a fire in their rifle tunnel today. I figure the entire range will be shut down for awhile.

I was shooting on the pistol range when all of a sudden the damn fire alarm sounds. I thought it was a drill or mistake until I saw smoke coming from the rifle tube. Damn, I had just started shooting my CZ Kadet. If anybody owns of these, they're a pain in the ass to load. I load up my guns and follow the evacuating chaos outside.

Anybody know a place that offers LE pricing on their shooting range?

Hell yeah! A grand total of $6.50 isn't bad for static shooting. Not to mention you can adjust the distance without walking anywhere

I like shooting at BP if I'm just shooting pistol, never had a problem with them.

This same thing happened at Bass Pro a few years ago when an employee allegedly fired his muzzle loader down in the rifle range, igniting unburnt smokeless powder residue.

FYI, Elm Fork used to offer LE pricing on their shooting range when it was formerly Winchester Shooting Range, but I haven't been there in a decade.

Backwoods Traps range in Aubrey also used to offer LE pricing before it was bought out.

Good choice on a rainy day. One guy there at the counter is really irritating though. Every time I go there, he makes the same freaking comment as he gives my Wilson 1911 his once-over: "I can't believe you ruined a Wilson by installing XS sights."

Uh huh.

They still put speed governors on the trigger when you shoot there?

Does he have a crazy eye? There's one up there that gets on my nerves. He'll take my gun, inspect it, push it forward, and attempt to get a good bead on something. All while I'm waiting to shoot

Unfortunately. I do controlled double taps and they have no problems. I guy got busted yestered for rapid fire, before the real rapid fire occurred

Ah yes, the old "safety check". Got to love it.
$1500 custom tuned 1911 that must be "inspected" by buba...
So he drops the slide on an empty chamber and dry fires it which damages the lockup.
Then he makes some asinine comment about some custom feature. Hello!  It's a custom gun!  The beaver tail is a wilson combat that has been custom ground to fit my hand not your mcdonalds munching bear paw and I like an extended slide release and don't care what you read in a gun rag about it.
Rant over.

That's him. He showed me his Franken-gun he built one time I was there, so I suppose he fancies himself the next Larry Vickers.

Sure, I could have said Bill Wilson, but where's the fun in that?

I still don't know why you go through all the trouble and expense of building an underground range and make it exactly one lane wide.

So Grapevine has an underground range?  Interesting.  The San Antonio store has their range on the second floor.  I was there during construction and they used 2 steel storage containers sitting side by side.  Think one is for pistol and the other for rifle. They are lined inside to absorb impacts and prevent penetration through the containers.

The rifle "range" is an underground tube. The pistol range has about 10 lanes and it's on the ground floor.

Sounds just like the "indoor range" at the Denton County Sports Association

Which Bass Pro has the range? It can't be the one at the Katy Mills Mall, can it? Is it at the other Houston area one?

For everybody who hasn't memorized every single suburb in Texas (I can't be the only one), it's in Dallas.

It was at the pistol range.  Someone talked the attendant into letting them shoot a black powder revolver on the pistol range.  Sparks caught the foam sound proofing on the ceiling on fire and it spread like crazy after that.  It was down for quite a while.  Kid attending the range was fired and all these new rules were set in place.  They tried to make sure that only people who knew at least a little about guns were working the range, but obviously that didn't happen.
