Does anyone work in wind power, such as: technician, site manager, engineer, or any thing in the technical end.  Feel free to post or PM me.  I'm trying to get on with one of the companies in the area.  I'm looking at the technician 1 job that's open by Odessa.

Thanks!

I don't work on the wind side, i work for AEP in distribution, but i have a buddy going through the TSTC wind energy program.  Have you though about doing that and getting a degree in it.  According to him most companies are only hiring graduates out of those programs.  I know i applied for about 20 different jobs through the Odessa region trying to get on with one of the wind companies and i didn't hear back from any of them.  I know TSTC has that program and Amarillo College also has one and im sure other smaller colleges have it too.

unless you have experience good luck.

many of the big companies are actually downsizing a little.

If you really want to look into it, TSTC has a wind tech course you should look into to become certified.

There are sites all over West Texas, I live right in the middle of them, but I am a supplier only.

Former WTU'r Jnsey?  (I'm former CPL/CSW/AEP myself).

As for the OP, I wouldn't limit myself just to wind generation.  There may be opportunities in transmission, distribution, and municial owned electric and co-ops out there.

Like noted, companies aren't hiring much these days but if you DO get a job utility jobs are traditionaly a good place to work in lean times.  Hell for the last 25 years lean or no it's all I've done (but on the IT side).  Good luck.

I'd like those big ugly windmills a little better if they had an efficient and cheap means of storing energy :)
