I am going to be in the Harlingen, TX area tomorrow and Tuesday. Any recommendations on things to do or see? Any decent gun shops in the area?

Thanks

Asked the same thing about a year ago.  I think there is one range but I did see a class 3 store sign in downtown. Never looked for it though. Damn family get togethers

I saw a sign for I think Reliant Defense systems? I can't find them online. They had a billboard between McAllen and Harlingen.

The pickings are slim when compared to other parts of the state.  The Armory on 10th St in McAllen is small but they carry more ARs and AKs than most shops in the valley.  There's also Glick Twins in Pharr on Business 83 and Danny's Pawn Shop in McAllen that are decent.

Harlingen has Johnny's True Value and Lone Star Guns.  Lone Star is pretty new and has a limited inventory but they have decent prices on the stuff they do have.  Lone Star is on Sunshine 77 near the DPS office.

Pepe's Mexican Restaurant on Sunshine has good food and decent prices.  Any of their plates with fajitas is what I would order.  As far as a place to hang out and get some drinks, I would go to Copz Lounge on Sunshine.  It's a laid back and you can hang out without running into any trouble.

Don't forget to go and see the Iwo Jima memorial.  It is not the real one, but the one the real one was cast from.

What's the story with Copz? I've driven buy hundreds of times and can't figure out what kind of bar it is. Oh, and another vote for Pepe's, although La Play is hard to beat.

Johnny's is ok, but they're proud of what they've got.

We stayed at the Marriott when we went and it was nice. When we unloaded all our stuff I was in the elevator with our bags and brought the AR in from the truck. A guy came in, and me and my wife just looked at each other, but he didn't seem to even notice it slung around me. If he did he didn't act like it.  Funny I thought.

Except for nights when they have a live band, it's a quiet place to watch a game or hang out with friends.  If you don't like the club scene or crowded bars, it's decent.  To be honest, it's been a while since I've been in there though.
